Life Decisions

Are you happy with all the life decisions you made? Now that I'm nearly 40 I'm struggling. I am happily married but financially not in a great place. My family have always influenced my decisions saying "you're not doing that" etc. I feel like perhaps I had too many voices interfering - have quite an overbearing mum, hubby even knows this .

You are still young enough to do something now you've realised this! I started a company at 43 snd never looked back!!! Do it xxx

What do you want to change?

Hugs to you, OP. I could have written this post myself. I've tried to learn to ignore the opinions of others, family included. Because ultimately, this is your life. Not theirs. I also have an overbearing DM and DF, but you are an adult. Thus, your decisions, your consequences due to those decisions are yours and yours only. I know that it is a lot easier said than done, but it's time to distance yourself mentally and emotionally from your DM in terms of her opinions and just live your life accordingly, as it suits you and your DH. Do you have any DC's? If so, please try and train yourself to make decisions based on their well-being, not what your DM will think. Best of luck x

I would like more financial security , not really sure how to go about that , I need to earn money but I don't want or suit office jobs. Just a little bit at a crossroads and I also still rent .

The only thing I regret is not being a bit more ambitious when I was younger. I've never been very focused and just sort of drifted from job to job. I wish I'd thought more about training for a career. Apart from that I have no regrets. I'm very happy with my life.

@SallyWD yes I feel this too about the ambitious part. I do feel a little bit that I was held back a lot by DM without going into too much detail on here. I do lack confidence in my abilities .
