Voter ID

A law was passed recently meaning that voters have to show photo ID. Has anyone heard whether this will be enforced? I’ve emailed my council but not heard back- we have local elections here in May.

I live in one of the trial areas. If you didn't have photo id you were able to apply for an ID card from the council. How would they have time to sort all of this before May?

The bill is currently at the House of Lords, it has not passed into law.

It will be introduced May 2023. So next year.

It's ironic that this has been put forward by the Minister for Levelling Up. The people most impacted by the potential change are those in the most deprived communities.
