Anyone know much about pen refills?

Does it matter what sort of ballpoint pen refill I buy, to replace this one 🤷‍♀️ I was just going to buy some cheap ones from ebay but then doubted myself a bit

It's boring, I know, sorry!

What sort of pen is it - can't see a picture.

Maflingo · 10/02/2022 17:23

Does it unscrew easily? Can you post a picture of the inner piece? A lot of pens you can buy refills for

lucysmam · 10/02/2022 17:26

Oops! I did take a pic of the refill this morning...I didn't think to post it 🤦‍♀️

Hmm, not seen one like that before - that bit at the other end from the tip is unusual. If no one can suggest a name for it, I'd try to find some that looked the same on eBay and ask the seller for measurements if uncertain.

Maflingo · 10/02/2022 18:26

It looks like a fairly standard cheapy single-use ballpoint inner. The end opposite the tip does look odd but I suspect it would pop off quite easily and you would find the same inside most pens that are not designed to be refilled. Perhaps that pen could be recycled (lots of places recycle pens now) and you opt to spend a few pounds more on your next pen that can be refilled?
Even some of the £5 ballpoints in WHSmiths can actually be refilled if you unscrew them, I have a few that were bought for me as gifts and I have refilled them several times

@Maflingo, that's a bit annoying...this particular pen has my name on it & I'm the only one of me at work, so I was using it there!

It's a cheap no name cartridge. If you look at Parker they have their own sort. Just buy a gel pen or a reasonable roolerball from e.g. cultpen

Well you could always try breaking open another cheap pen and swapping the inners? You might need to trim the length slightly though.

BarbaraofSeville · 11/02/2022 10:13

This is something I've always wondered. I get most of my pens as corporate freebies and if I find one I like, I'd like to be able to buy refills for it, but I can never tell which type to buy and they always seem to be slightly different in length or end fitting.
