The corporate bullshit thread - can we propose simple alternatives?

There's a thread on the widespread use of corporate bullshit language. My company also uses a lot of this language. However, some of it is so pervasive, I can't think of normal words to use. Can we use this thread to propose normal words?

Some are obvious - "reach out" = talk/contact/write

The three words that are used a lot in my company for which I can't find simple alternatives are:

Stakeholder
Synergize
Leverage

Any ideas?

Does synergise not just mean 'work together'

MoiraNotRuby · 10/02/2022 05:41

I think stakeholder is a normal word rather than jargon, its easier than listing all the people it includes.

I grant that work together might work for synergize. Stakeholder is everywhere, but it sounds a silly word.

You don’t really need to replace stakeholder and leverage though do you? They are single words that mean something useful.

The corporate bullshit terms are the ones that use stupid metaphors or try to sound fancier than what a simple word would do.

I get told that I am to “hold their feet to the fire” which I think is quite wanky but I’m not sure if it’s corporate BS.

I’m going to try and jot down the wankiest ones I hear this week. Sounds like it might be quite entertaining, plus I have a day and a half of development/team meeting type stuff which will be awash with it.

Argh did I just post on a zombie thread 🤦‍♀️
mumsnet served it up to me as a suggestion!
