I have spent a lot if time thinking about this the last few days

Increasing prices for gas/electricity

Increasing petrol prices

Food prices on the rise

Higher taxes in the form of NI

DH and I are not living hand to mouth but these increases are worrying and I fear for people who were already struggling Sad

I worry about young people and families and their future

Anyone else?

Infiltrate your next local demo and start chucking things around.

@MyGlassKeepsLeaking

I don't work (recovering from being very ill last year), my husband works full-time. Luckily, the mortgage was paid off. I'm going to:

stop using the dishwasher
cut down on the washer and dryer
stop having the heating on so much
hopefully, get a job in the summer (I'll be 63 then)

Using the tumble dryer less is definitely worth doing. I'm constantly astonished how many people shamelessly admit to using the dryer even when the weather is good and they have outside space because they CBA pegging out.

On washing, use the eco cycle for full loads not the quick wash and don't be one of those people who washes towels and clothes after one use/wear.

However, I'm not sure switching from dishwasher to hand washing will save much, as dishwasher uses so much less water than handwashing for the same am amount of pots so even if it's cheaper to heat the water you're heating more of it and if you're on a meter, your water bill will also increase.

For heating, again it depends. There's basic minimum temperatures for health and avoidance of damp, so do what you can to maintain those, but don't whack the heating up so you can sit around in light clothing without getting cold.

We need to strike or something because 8 year high profits to oil companies whilst people can't afford to eat or heat their homes is more than outrageous, it's disgusting and absurd!

I started this thread a few weeks back but having watched Channel 4 tonight about potential rationing in Europe I wonder what to do Sad

The increasing cost of fuel and the potential issue with gas/oil supply in Europe I am worried how high my heating will be.

I currently pay £150 per month but I am now on a variable rate and I am at the whim of the market

I have lowered our thermostat and the amount of time the heating is on but the heating needs to be on, to prevent damp and also for our health!
