I've had it nearly a week now and it's so painful. I thought it was ulcers but now it's just so sore either side. I've done a covid test everyday and they have all been negative. Really want it to stop hurting so much!

Ive had it for over 3 weeks went to see gp last week and she said it’s a virus as my throat was sore too. I asked doe blood test as the only time I’ve had something similar is when I was low in vitamin b 12 and folic acid. I’m also suffering extreme fatigue. The results came back again low b12 and folio acid. Last time I was given injections this time I’ve been told to change my diet etc But that’s not helping my sore tongue I’m going to ring again today as it’s not getting any better. Hope you feel better soon Op x

Marmite on toast 👌 really helps

Try changing to an SLS free toothpaste, might help.

I had it for three or four days before Christmas. I ended up seeing the pharmacist and getting Daktarin and covering my tongue with that twice a day. It helped!!

Look up 'burnt tongue syndrome'. I have had a sore tongue for years. I even had a mouth guard made by the dentist to try to help (it didn't).

My tongue and whole mouth is so sore :( I had covid two weeks ago so think it is that. It is miserable

WaitingForSunshineAndDaisies · 07/02/2022 08:47

Have you had a mouth swab taken for culture? It could be Candida, we get that in our lab quite commonly. Ask your GP, it should only take a minute to take the swab and then 48-72 hours for the culture.

@mumof1littlebun I’ve seen dr again and been prescribed difflam for sore throat and tablets for fungal infection and told to go back in a week if they don’t work. I hope you have had some luck with yours.

ihateliningup · 08/02/2022 12:26

Yes! For about 2 weeks. Thought i had an ulcer but there was nothing there.

QueenLagertha · 08/02/2022 12:32

This happened me a couple of months ago. I chewed a raw clove of garlic every evening and it helped almost straight away. No idea what caused it, possibly thrush as I'm pregnant

Namaste6 · 09/02/2022 05:05

How old are you OP? It could be a peri menopausal symptom.

Lastbustowhitehawk · 09/02/2022 05:24

I had this for the whole of January and put it down to stress, it cleared up after about 4 weeks but it's horrible so you have my sympathy!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 09/02/2022 05:30

yes, how strange
i blamed my vaping

TigerLilyTail · 09/02/2022 05:30

I had this and the doctor said it was a vitamin B deficiency in my case. It might be worth taking a multivitamin just in case.

Retisestress · 09/02/2022 05:49

Yes me too ! Just one side of tongue.

Lauz83 · 24/03/2022 18:37

I have this to! Was getting a bit worried about it. I’m recovering from covid, day 4 negative and it started a couple days ago, but thinking it could be a post covid symptom? Hope it’s better for you soon xx

Yorkshiregold · 24/03/2022 18:41

I also have this, sore tongue, sore mouth and cold sores. I also have covid. I think I have some vit B in the cupboard, thanks!

Inkanta · 24/03/2022 18:58

Yes I started with it last week! Never had it before in my life. Had covid at Christmas so was wondering if it's related, - a post covid thing, but there doesn't seem to be information on that being the case. Mouth very dry too. I changed my toothpaste and taking vitamins.

Kfjsjdbd · 24/03/2022 19:09

Yes both me and my DD. It was awful. But luckily only lasted a week. I didn’t test for covid but it could have been related.

Starrr123 · 10/05/2023 11:20

Sandradale330 · 27/06/2023 22:34

Hi there did you manage to get any relief from your sore tongue? If so, what helped and how long did it last? I’m on day 4 and it’s truly excruciating :(

Starrrz · 16/11/2023 10:06

@Sandradale330 how are you now ? X

Sandradale330 · 16/11/2023 14:45
