Can’t afford a new mattress- any recommendations for a good affordable mattress topper?

I would love a new mattress but unfortunately don’t have the money to spare at the minute. I would love a recommendation for a good mattress topper that will make my old mattress feel new. Thanks

We just bought a Sleep&Soak memory foam topper. You can get it on their website but dh found it £20 cheaper on Amazon. I've slept wonderfully for a week!

If your mattress is sagging and uncomfortable then a topper won’t improve it.
If it’s sturdy but the material is thinning and you can feel springs it will make it more comfortable.
Argos have a memory foam one on clearance at the moment if price is an issue. (Single or king size) I can’t remember where we got ours from but I do find the memory foam ones comfortable.

I'd really recommend these mattress toppers OP:

I've bought 3 and they're really good, much better than the ones you can buy in Argos/B &M/ Dunelm.

I've also had a soak and sleep topper but from memory it was about £80.

Have you seen the IKEA Hovag mattress? I bought one for my young son, but would definitely consider getting one for us. It's cracking value for money if you're on a budget. A double is £215 but appreciate that might be more than you want to spend.

@M1212 - that's a really good website, thank you. I used to buy from a similar one based in Boston, Lincolnshire but they went bust. M&S do decent mattress toppers that don't cost a bomb, but the one on M1212's link looks brilliant.

Thanks for the links - I need a king size topper for our guest room. Would love latex but can't find anywhere affordable. Dislike memory foam but wouldn't have thought of the synthetic filling type. Am going to try it I think Smile

They go flat after a while, in my experience. But when we first got one it was absolute heaven, like lying on a fluffy cloud.

@M1212
Those toppers look wonderful! Do they actually retain their oomph or do they go flat like the cheaper ones? TIA x

M1212 · 13/02/2022 11:14

@Billandben444
8 months on, all 3 are still plumped up. They're amazing.
I've had the silent night & dunelm toppers before, never tried the memory foam ones, but there is honestly no comparison to the Lancs textiles hotel topper.

Billandben444 · 13/02/2022 12:49

Thank you, I'm going to order one! X

JoyApple · 19/07/2023 06:36

Hi @Billandben444 and @M1212 how did you get on with the Lancashire textile topper? I'm looking for a super soft one, would it be and good?
