I can’t believe it was filmed nearly 10 years ago.

The girls must be late 20s by now. I wonder how they got on.

10 years! Shit. I ever Shelby, I'm sure - lived in Scotland and was pregnant by the end of the doc. I remember her writing her food budget, and one of the things was an inexpensive sort of fish finger sandwich from the corner shop for about a quid. And she visited a Credit Union but couldn't afford the six quid joining fee. It was fucking depressing.

remember.
I also remember a kid called Sam with too-short school trousers and a funny haircut. I think his aunty got him a haircut for his birthday and he was stoked. He had to wear his sister's hand-me-down school shirts. Dad was a former chef. I thought that was this doc, too, but I can't see them. Might be mixing them up.

Yeah that’ll have been a different one. There were quite a few at the start of the twenty-teens.

The baby one of the girls had will be going into his last year at secondary school in September.

It would be good to know how they all got on.

The documentary with the boy called Sam was called 'poor kids' its available on youtube. It also had a girl and her sisters called Courtney and Paige from scotland.
Not sure of its whats in the link but I teach health and social care and we watch it as part of an exam unit to look at the effects of poverty and environment on people.

Everytime I see Sam wearing his sisters shirt I am furious with his school. If he were 'mine' we would have given him appropriate uniform on long term 'loan'.
