Saturday Lunch

Do you have a lunch go to for Saturdays? Ours stems back to my childhood when my mum would always go the bakery and buy a French stick for Saturday lunchtime. It’s kind of stuck and despite me eating little carbs, I still buy one for the family. I like Saturday lunch to be a leisurely affair, lots of things laid out on the table for people to help themselves. Buttered French stick, good cheeses with grapes, celery and pickles, often ham or other sliced meat. A couple of salads, one green, the other usually made up using veg from the fridge that needs using up.
Occasionally home made cheese trays, sausage rolls or tarts but that depends on me having time in the morning to bake.

We don’t have it every week because sometime we have brunch, if it’s really, really cold I might do soup but not often because I’m a lot keener then anyone else so I’m more likely to have it when it’s just me.
Oh and sometimes we’ll eat out.

Any one else have a Saturday go to?

Eggs. Nearly always - fried egg sandwich, poached or scrambled on toast. With smoked salmon if feeling posh!

Cheese, mushroom and spinach omelette usually. It's the only day I'm at home at lunchtime to be able to cook something (Sundays are taken up by DS's hobbies).

Jacket potato with cheese and beans or fish finger sarnie with tartare sauce. Something quick and hot.

We get our sainsbury’s delivery on a Saturday morning, so Saturday lunch is often the fresh focaccia with balsamic vinegar and olive oil to dip it in, and cold meats - salami etc.

DH does the food shop Saturday mornings and the we feed the DC straight away/while putting the shopping away.
