Does decongestant work?

I'm full of snot. Not covid, had that a couple of weeks ago. How can I clear the snot away? It drips all night (sorry) and in the day just sits there blocking my nose. Sudafed? Something else? Thanks

Sudafed, the stronger version that’s only available over the counter at a pharmacy.
Seems to work the best for me.

Agree re the pharmacy Sudafed. It's infinitely better than the version on the shop floor.

There's an amazing nose spray that works! I'll see if I can find a picture

Otrivine is magic

Get a netti bottle. With saline solution. Most disgusting and bestest thing ever I promise!!! Cheap as chips from amazon.

Orangesquish · 04/02/2022 19:41

Agree re sudafed. Also put a couple of drops of olbas oil onto some tissue and tuck it under your pillow at night (ideally with the olbassy bit sticking out, if you see what I mean). Try not to accidentally lie on it or you'll get a weird cold cheek sensation Grin

Get well soon!

Intrigued by this though!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm hoping an early night will help and I'll pop to the pharmacy tomorrow morning.

One thing I will say is that I find sudafed (the pharmacy only version) a stimulant, and don't take it after about 3pm if I want to sleep. You may be fine, but just in case....

Agree with saline nose sprays and olbas oil or similar.
Also, suckable cough sweets with menthol in them may also help a lot.
(my go to when getting blocked up is jakes original - menthol, eucalyptus and aniseed. You have to enjoy the combination though, I'm the only one in our house who likes them :) )
