What did you eat just before you went into labour?

For me it was enchalidas. I'm having them today and they always remind me of the night before labour started.

Pizza

Ormally · 03/02/2022 20:07

Most of a sandwich bag of mini date and walnut scones. With hindsight, am glad it wasn't something I'd always be reminded of seeing again! But I remember almost reverently the cold turkey salad and roll that appeared because whoever had been in the hospital bed the day before had ordered it but gone. It was so good!

Wow. This is interesting. I can never eat. It's probably my first sign (not that I need to know because I don't plan on doing it again). All three times I've felt really full, have missed a meal and then (ahem) had to go to the toilet. Then a couple of hours later I throw up. Definitely couldn't have eaten.

Orange juice and egg sandwiches. I threw it up again shortly afterwards.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 03/02/2022 20:52

DS: a curry
DD: a sandwich and a doughnut

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 03/02/2022 21:16

I had a planned c section and last ate at 7.30 night before as was due to have dd at 7.30 next morning. It was 3.38 pm by the time i got to have her. They told me to take my mind off the hunger by watching tv in the day room. It was a cookery programme 🤦🏻‍♀️

inappropriateraspberry · 03/02/2022 21:53

A hospital sandwich 😢

Tronkmanton · 03/02/2022 21:59

DD- Curry, a serious FAIL, don’t do it!
DS- A massive bar of Cadbury’s Caramel, yummy.

sociallydistained · 03/02/2022 22:03

I'm 41 weeks today and haven't stopped eating the last 2 weeks. Boredom more than anything I think. I dread to think what I would of eaten when labour kicks off. If it's tonight, it's too much to list 😩🙈

CamsPaisleyCuffs · 03/02/2022 22:07

A crayfish and rocket sandwich on malted bread. When I got terrible stomach cramps and threw it up a few hours later I was convinced it was food poisoning even though it was my due date. 🤦‍♀️

IHeartKingThistle · 03/02/2022 22:29

Glass of Prosecco.

I was overdue. It worked. Not sorry!

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 03/02/2022 22:34

Nando’s hot sauce. Tickles my insides on a good day. Not good when have delirious and pushing Blush

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 03/02/2022 22:34

Half*

SpikeDearheart · 03/02/2022 22:37

Rice pudding that I'd made earlier that day. It was delicious, if I do say so myself Grin

Crunchymum · 03/02/2022 22:39

Chicken shish kebab with DC1. I was several days overdue and in early labour it was what I fancied. Didn't eat after that for almost 3 days (long, long labour and delivered overnight. They did give me tea and toast at 4am on the ward and I had cereal bars / snacks but I didn't eat a proper meal between Sunday evening and Thursday lunchtime)

Slice of toast with DC2. My waters went and I just about managed tea and toast before contractions started.

Was induced with DC3 and made DP get me a sneaky McD Hamburger (I had GD so my diet had been impeccable for the 10 weeks prior to that)

TickerTocker · 03/02/2022 22:41

I made my H drive me to our local butchers who made the best ham salad sarnie and ate it stood up over kitchen having contractions then made him drive me to the hospital where I gave birth 3 hours later !

3peassuit · 03/02/2022 22:41

Chicken tikka.

foreverandalways · 03/02/2022 22:43

Spaghetti Bol

Allywill · 03/02/2022 22:44

Pancakes. It was shrove Tuesday and I insisted on having some before we went to the hospital. I love pancakes.

mejon · 03/02/2022 22:46

Bagel and cream cheese with DD1. It came back up a couple of hours later as contractions started.

Chicken friccasse in hospital with DD2 whilst waiting for the induction drugs to kick in. That came back up too Grin. I'd ordered corned beef hash for my evening meal and remember a HCA popping her head round the door whilst I was mid-push asking if I still wanted it... I politely declined.

Is everyone sick during labour? I had a c section so have no idea.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 03/02/2022 22:56

@SerendipitySunshine I've had two vaginally deliveries and wasn't sick on either occasion

I've birthed 3 children and no sickness on any of them

No. I was sick after I'd given birth to DS1 but totally fine with DS2.

I was with my last. My vomiting actually made my waters break. Smile
