Night sweats

For about the last few months I have been suffering from night sweats, I wake up in the night and my bed is wet and I have to change my pyjamas. It's really horrible and I hate it, it's not pleasant for DH either!

When I google it all that comes up is peri menopause but surely I shouldn't be having that at 37? I haven't been drinking and not overweight or anxious etc. I am seeing my GP about it in a couple of weeks.

I wondered if anyone else has experienced this and what turned out to be the cause? Can it be menopause at my age? And can I do anything to stop the night sweats?

It absolutely could be perimenopause at 37. But you should seek medical advice to check for anything else (I've no idea what, though).

Look up Dr Louise Newson. She's got a book, websites, a really good podcast, and the Balance app (the one about menopause, not the healthy eating one).

Have you had a baby recently? The hormone changes post pregnancy can give pretty hefty night sweats.

Thank you that's really helpful, I will look her up. Very worried about spending years with this until actual menopause happens. My son is 3 now so too late for that option I think.

I've also been having night and daytime sweats. I've made a docs appointment which is this Saturday.
In the mean time I've started drinking soya milk and just started taking Menopace. Night sweats have stopped. I think it may be the soya milk as there was a couple of nights I didn't drink it and had night sweats that night.

It does sound like perimenopause for you too but definitely see you GP incase it's something else

I had night sweats when I turned 30. They lasted for a few months and were definitely linked to my menstrual cycle- it would get bad a week or so before my period then stop. It passed when I got pregnant.

DC1 is almost 12 and I am still showing no signs of menopause but in my case the night sweats were hormone-related. Do see your Dr though as night sweats can be a symptom of issues with your glands.
