Hi does anyone know where I can donate books. None of the charity shops near me will take them and as they are in pristine condition I feel its sacrilegious to chuck them.

Depending on what they are what about a nursing home, hospital, school, women's shelter? Where i live people put boxes of books outside their front doors and advertise free to a good home on local Facebook.

Our local supermarket cafes have shelves, where books are (I think) 50p and the money goes to charity.
Our small local outpatients have a charity bookshelf, and bigger hospital has a whole room. It’s not manned, and you can leave bags of books, and there’s an honesty box. This is my favourite place to take boxes of books. You see doctors, nurses, admin staff, patients, everyone buying their books there.

Facebook market place? Olio? Freecycle?

We’ve got a new Facebook group where a lady’s taking everyone’s unwanted books and selling them for money towards the air ambulance.

As you can see, I often have books to rehome

Thank you both. Will try all the options!

Set up a little book exchange in your neck of the woods - spare shelf in a pub, at school, community centre, empty phone box (these are ace!)....corner store, leisure centre.
Encourage people to take a book and leave another in its place.

Look for Little Free Libraries to see if there are any near you.

Music Magpie or similar sometimes pay you pennies per book so it might be worth boxing a load up to send to them.
