Hodibiddy · 02/02/2022 08:25

Anyone else find that lots of water come out of their chicken.
(and bacon for that matter!)
Is because I buy from supermarkets and not a butchers?
It usually boils instead of fries 🤦‍♀️

Depends on the quality of the chicken. Are you buying bog standard or free range?

Notcontent · 02/02/2022 08:30

Cheap meat is pumped full of water to make it look plump.

Whatwouldscullydo · 02/02/2022 08:48

Yes. It's infuriating. The cheaper the meat the worse it is.

Aldi and lidl are particularly bad for this

Only thing that helps me with this is to put on a high heat, don't overcrowded the pan and leave for a few minutes before turning over. So don't constantly stir it around

They are! DH did a shop for me recently and it was awful - even the dog was a bit sniffy.

Yes, and it's gotten considerably more watery over the last few months! Cost saving exercise on the part of the supermarkets
