The same dream keeps happening

Not every night but quite often. I dream that I'm sat on a ledge or hanging off it and clinging on for life, really high up, so off a building of some kind and I'm absolutely shitting myself. Terrified to move in an position incase I fall. I never fall! The dream either abruptly ends or switches to something else. I managed to get down last night, I found an easier way down. It feels so real !
Does anyone know anything about recurring dreams ? Happened again last night, I really hate them because the fear is so real.
It's been going on for years now

That’s brilliant that you managed to get down. Often when you achieve something like that in a dream it either goes away or it changes form. You have solved the puzzle, so to speak.

Oh really ? Never managed to get down before, it's like I suddenly went "oh" and i even said to myself in the dream "why didn't I just do that before"
Just wondering what's causing the same dream, it's quite interesting really recurring dreams

There is something happening in your life that your brain is trying to process while you sleep....it could be a big thing or a relatively small event. Hopefully the climbing down means the problem can be solved and you wont keep having the same dream?

The only time I had the same dream over and over was during my divorce years ago, it was a nightmare time and obviously, psychologically, I was trying to process all the hurt and the emotions. The dream was a true nightmare (and all in black) and it went on for weeks, until I was almost afraid to go to sleep. It eventually resolved itself and never returned.

@MeanderingGently glad to hear yours eventually sorted themselves out, I hate nightmares !

To be honest ive got alot on, wedding etc but that's fairly recent. The only constant that's been happening for years is ivf treatment and trying to have a baby
