Want to do a book if best photic from the past 12 months as a surprise birthday present.

Need something I can do from an iPhone. There seem to be a lot of options, are they all pretty similar or are there particular ones people would recommend?

I use Photobooks and have never had a problem. All done from my iPhone.

I also use FreePrints Photobooks - never had a problem, good quality and easy to design/layout your pictures on each page

manymoonsandgoats · 01/02/2022 21:39

Photobooks, the icon is blue with 'Photobooks' wrote underneath an outline of a butterfly in a book.

NewBrownMouse · 01/02/2022 21:41

I also use freeprints photobooks, easy to do from a phone and lots of upgrades if you want to change size or different quality finishes from the free option.

Thanks all, it sounds like that is the one to use then!

Appreciate it.

Does anyone have a link to this please? I have used photo box to do these books from my iPad and I think it’s the worst platform ever. Literally gives me the rage. Possibly doing books from a PC is not as painful who knows, but all my pics are on my iPad.
I have tried free prints before for prints, not books, and I think the quality of prints is poor.
Not sure if this is the same one being talked about? I just googled photobooks and it wasn’t immediately obvious which site to go to. Thanks

I've just ordered a couple via Snapfish - they have 50% off everything at the moment, the app is pretty easy to use. I've I used them in the past for just prints and don't recall any issues.

I did my wedding album on FreePrints Photobooks and have since done my DS's first year albums using it. Highly recommend, nothing like just printing photos.
Type 'free prints photobook' into your App Store

PhotoBOX for me.
I've used cheaper ones, (though invariably there are codes for Photobox of 40% and more) but I always go back to them for quality.
Before Christmas I did a cheap one with some prints for dd's 18th and just binned the lot and did it again on Photobox.

trumpisagit · 02/02/2022 06:04

I don't know about each of use from a phone, but for quality I have been happy with I use Snapfish.

hellcatspangle · 02/02/2022 06:07

I found photobox awful to use (gave up in the end in a fit of temper!) so I'll be giving photo books a go - can you add text/captions?

Erictheavocado · 02/02/2022 08:12

Another vote here for Freeprints Photobooks. So easy to use from your phone. I use them regularly for the free (just pay postage) book you get every month. I've also created upgraded (hard cover, bigger etc) ones and had no problem at all. I did a book several years ago using a different company and it was complicated and expensive for an 'ok' outcome. Freeprints books are superior IMO.

ThePug · 02/02/2022 08:28

How much do the Freeprints ones work out as if you want hardcover, say A6? I've done several with Snapfish which are usually between £8 and £ 12 inc postage depending on what offers are available. Books are great quality but the site is very irritating ( gave up on the mobile version so did on laptop as luckily my photos back up to Google so can access)

What is the 'gain' for these companies offering 'free' books/prints? Is it the ability to use your photos? Hook you in to upgrade & spend money? I just don't get why they do it?!

They're not really free...the postage is quite expensive so I expect they're getting their cut that way, plus lots of upgrades available which you pay for.
Erictheavocado · 03/02/2022 20:37

Postage isn't cheap I suppose and I tend to upgrade to first class which means I get a 20 page soft cover A5 size book for £6.99. I ordered on Monday and it arrived today. I have bought bigger, hardback books from them and was happy with them. I have also bought some of their other things - mugs, canvas prints etc and have been very happy with them. I find the app easy to use and there are a reasonable number of options to personalise the books.

rifling · 03/02/2022 20:40

I always use Photobox and find it easy but that's on a computer not a tablet.

Quite. There is a mention on the freeprints website about them knowing your location when you take a photo, to share with other apps. Which suggests it's data mining in some way.

I would pay more for something not tracking me.
