Have any of you recently had success with a present for a 10 year old boy? I am looking for a main birthday present.

I am all out of ideas Grin

It’s such a tricky age. Harry Potter Lego is popular with my 9.5 YO.
He also recently got a rugby ball which made him surprisingly happy.

A magnet for magnet fishing.

Scooter. Basketball and hoop. Science kit - electronic circuits went down really well.

My football mad nephew got a Match of the Day magazine subscription, Football Billionaire game and a Smart Ball that counts his keepy-ups for his 11th birthday and was over the moon. Gravitrax was another hit.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/01/2022 22:20

Tricky age! We bought our Harry Potter fanatic tickets for the cursed child at that age. Would something like that work - some kind of experience?

A gaming chair if he has a console?

Stompythedinosaur · 31/01/2022 22:59

Harry Potter lego, gravitrax, skateboard and/or skateboard ramp, Switch games and accessories and and oodie have been popular gifts with my 10yo (admittedly a girl, but they are all pretty gender neutral).

Dandynot · 31/01/2022 23:42

Mine got a popcorn maker which was a big hit, and a remote controlled drone which also went down well. Oh, and a waffle maker for Xmas (not main present as we all use it but he liked this too)…

JassyRadlett · 31/01/2022 23:45

Mine has recently enjoyed Harry Potter Lego and the ISS Lego kit, trick footballs (or frankly any football goes down a treat, apparently there’s no limit on the number of footballs you can enjoy), an extendable magnetic torch where the extendable bit can also go round corners, sports gloves, and a Gravitrax set. Board games have also been popular - he likes Harry Potter Cluedo, Who Knows Where, the London Game and Ticket to Ride.

Dropmix is a lot of fun: www.amazon.co.uk/Hasbro-DropMix-Mixing-System-Bundle/dp/B07K4BTDSW?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Mine is turning 11 soon got HP lego and he's eyeing up SW lego but really he has more than enough lego.

I'm out of ideas got new scooter last year, bike still fits, he's going to end up with a load of cash.

GTAlogic · 01/02/2022 01:07

Mine got a quill like in Harry Potter and some nice paper to write on. He also got Harry Potter books, a wand, a couple of Lego sets, a nerf gun and a Switch game. Not all at the same time, but over the last few months!

DysmalRadius · 01/02/2022 01:13

A driving experience?

Uncurtailed · 01/02/2022 01:35

Nintendo switch

Shinyandnew2022 · 01/02/2022 09:51

Oh and my DC got roller skates for Christmas which were a huge hit !

Shiteshow100 · 01/02/2022 09:53

My boy got a skate board. He loves it!

BlingLoving · 01/02/2022 09:57

Skateboard (and kit) and gaming equipment as suggested here all good.

We've got DS clothes etc linked to his favourite sports teams. Also, starting to be interested in clothes that aren't just for practical purposes - loves his Urban Outfitters hoodie (but he's v tall so can just fit into the men's extra small, might need a few years for other kids) and his Northface coat. DH got him some posters of his favourite music artists recently too.

Also, this might be our DS, but his two favourite presents recently have been a soft snuggly electric blanket and a super soft extra cushion/pillow for his bed.

AnneButNotHathaway · 01/02/2022 10:49

Science kit
www.amazon.com/Thames-Kosmos-First-Chemistry-Science/dp/B00B9BFU5Y?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
Star Wars wall calendar (made in a photo calendar software since I couldn't find a nice one in stores or online at the time)
Star Wars blanket
Glow in the dark stickers

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/02/2022 13:00

Oh other presents hits included a small pool table and a guitar.

AlwaysLatte · 01/02/2022 13:09

Our 10 year old got a VR headset for his PlayStation, or the oculus quest 2 is also good, my other son has that one. They both love their led lights that you can programme with a mobile phone. Also our youngest is into Harry Potter Lego as well as the light sets you can get for them on Amazon.

FruHagen · 01/02/2022 18:22

Great ideas here! Thanks all.
I think it's going to be Harry Potter Lego and some other bits and bobs. He did say he wanted cash 💰 but I thought that was a bit boring.

Funny @BlingLoving that you mention a soft pillow. That's what he got at Christmas and he loves it. I want to get the electric blanket but no-one else agrees.

My DS got a tshirt, hoody and socks as youtuber merch. He wears them non stop and they're really good quality.

VenusClapTrap · 10/05/2022 08:51

Watching with interest as mine has his tenth birthday coming up in two weeks and I have absolutely no idea what to get him. 😬
Pondering theatre tickets.
