How do we protect our food from our cat when it's cooling on the side?

I have these round net things that protect the food from the flies.
But the cat stole a chicken jalfrezi and stained the carpet.
He's only 8 days out of abdominal surgery for eating a yo-yo string as well 🙄

So when excess food is cooling down on the side (say if DS is having his when he gets in) how do I protect it from the cat?

Bwahahaha at training cats.

My Mum swore she'd trained her cats with a spray bottle and they never went on the side. We told her that was bollocks. She swore blind.

She got a little camera to watch the cats when she was out at a new job. I'll let you write your own end to the story.

The best you can ever do is train them to jump down quietly as you walk into the room.
