Gender Critical Explination

Hi can anyone please explain what this means?

I've looked on Google.

I just saw the India Willoubhy Post.

Dd11 said people at school says she looks bisexual? How can anyone??? She says she isn't. Not that it matters.

Some are Non Binary or A-Sexual and without sounding ignorant I had to Google when she asked what they were.

This is a real post I'm not trying to cause an argument. Thank you.

Honestly i think the definition varies depending on who is saying it and who its aimed at

I think that when i first heard it it was someone who believed that gender stereotypes are harmful and someone who believes that humans can’t change sex, id be curious to see what other people say

Yes my take was that there are only two genders. To be honest I only knew IW as HW sister but I see she is trans? Is that right? I didn't get the sarcasm. Downside to being autistic.

Why are young children being asked to identify into certain gender groups? Age 11 I was still playing with Barbie dolls!!

Clymene · 31/01/2022 09:10

I don't think India and Holly are related

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 31/01/2022 09:13

I don’t know what india has said

And india and holly aren’t sisters

RevolvingPivot · 31/01/2022 09:16

Is this not the woman who writes books lol?

Ignore that then I'm confusing her. I did wonder why she had been in big brother.

Gender Critical or GC for me means critical of gender stereotypes, ie girls play with dolls boys play with cars, women cook men fix cars. It shoehorns people into boxes they don't feel comfortable in.
There are only 2 sexes male and female but there are 100+genders, most of which are a load of made up nonsense.
It's currently a trendy cause so it getting a lot of traction but it's just regressive nonsense I don't believe in gender I don't identify as a woman, I am one by virtue of my chromosomes and biology. I love football and baking cakes, sometime I wear dresses and make up sometime I wear hoodies and tracksuits. I can paint and do DIY, I also paint my nails. I just have a personality with a range of likes and dislikes, like every other person on the planet, I don't feel the need to label myself as I am totally comfortable in my own skin and don't need to try and draw attention to myself.

Oh wow she is trans. I remember her now. She looks so different. Obviously get the sarcasm a bit more now.

Gender is different to sex.

Two sexes. Which is not the same as gender.

GC means they think gendered roles, behaviours and expectations are stupid and damaging. Eg. Girls aren't naturally subservient and nurturing, boys aren't naturally violent and domineering.

Gender identity usually isn't something GC feminists believe actually exists, and usually feel that it actually acts as a way of reinforcing the gendered expectations that they are fighting so hard against. Eg. That child likes playing with dolls therefore their gender identity must be girl.

They believe you can be biologically male or female, and shouldn't be expectated to conform to gender norms. Eg. A man can wear makeup if he likes.

But they also believe it's unlikely a biological man can know what it feels like to be a woman, as he has neither the biology, nor the years of social conditioning and expectations that a woman has experienced from birth.

GCITC · 31/01/2022 14:44

I think it's pretty self explanatory. People who are gender critical are critical of gender norms and stereotypes and the affects they have on society.

To me, gender is a tool of oppression that we need to free ourselves from.
