Evening MNers, what’s been the best thing about your week?

Mine is, I’ve booked a holiday and I’ve finally achieved something at work I’ve been trying to do for ages

I've got covid at the moment, so joy is a little bit minimal at the moment sadly!
I had ds's online parents evening yesterday, he's 16, so obviously prone to being a nob sometimes and I was expecting them to say he could do with working harder. They did say this but what made me so proud, was the every teacher I spoke to said what a lovely young man he was and how polite he always was in class.
It's made my week, it really has Smile
But a holiday, now that is exciting!!!

hivemindneeded · 29/01/2022 22:24

I just completed a big, very demanding but very satisfying work project late this evening. I have that lovely glow of a job well done. Really hope the client likes it. Toasted it with an AF beer as I'm doing Dry Jan. And now I feel totally relaxed and will celebrate tomorrow morning by doing the national birdwatch survey because I am a happy old codger!

I have discovered the joys of handwriting a short diary using a dipping pen and ink! The writing is messy and I do get ink blobs on the paper occasionally but it just seems to add to the character. The reason I'm doing it is because I have an idea for a photo I want to take and part of it involves a handwritten notebook. I tried to find one online but then realised that I could just do it myself and make it more personal.

Dog went to the groomers for the first time in months, and he looks amazing. Cute as a button.

CormoranStrike · 30/01/2022 07:36

I’ve done a big clear out at home, and at least one of my rooms now looks amazing

AmbushedByCake · 30/01/2022 07:39

My very good friend is due her second baby soon, we had lunch then mooched around the shops without kids just like we did when we were teenagers, it was like a trip back to 1997 Smile

ImNotDancing · 30/01/2022 12:37

I had a big meeting at work during the week that I was leading, I’ve been preparing for it since before Christmas. I smashed the preparation and smashed the meeting! I’ve been so stressed about it and making it perfect, I’m so chuffed with myself! Now just need to execute the proposals.

Miss those days

I just caught my 9 mo doing the pincer movement with finger and thumb....small but wonderful knowing it's another thing she can do.

Zireael · 30/01/2022 13:11

Celebrated my 15th wedding anniversary with DH with a special weekend in London. We saw the Circe de Soliel at the Royal Albert Hall; it was incredible

merryhouse · 30/01/2022 13:33

I read a book, for the first time in twelve months.

Going to try and get the average up this year...

MmeSosostris · 30/01/2022 13:56

🙂

Babiesandalesbian · 30/01/2022 14:00

I managed to walk 22.5minutes a mile pace, usually I average 26.5-28 minutes a mile. I weight 160kg(so far lost 17kg). So I’m super happy with that.

2
I love them so much ❤️ and they love me ❤️
I don't know what I'd do without them

What's your cat like?

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 30/01/2022 15:16

My back isn't hurting for the first time in months!

dementedma · 30/01/2022 17:58

DS was 20 on Friday. I now no longer own any teenagers! Yay.

GTAlogic · 30/01/2022 23:35

@ImNotDancing it's not actually as difficult as I thought it was going to be! I remember having to use a refillable fountain pen at high school and getting ink everywhere but I'm sure that using the dip pen and ink, and trying to copy some cursive handwriting styles, is slowly making my handwriting neater. I'm thinking of buying myself a nice fountain pen on the back of this tbh, if I can afford one.

Stompythedinosaur · 30/01/2022 23:47

I thought one if my ducks was dying, but after a warm bath and 24 hours indoors to warm up he is back to being a feathery beauty.

LoveFall · 31/01/2022 00:34

I have been somehow jinxed in my bread making (in a bread machine) recently. My loaves look like ski jumps. Today I tried a seeded bread recipe. I know I put a 1/3 cup blackstrap molasses in instead of a 1/4 cup, but my goodness it has evenly risen right over the top of the pan and smells amazing.

Hip hip hooray!

bloodywhitecat · 31/01/2022 00:37

Can I have two?

  1. Being told that fosterling 1 has moved from having delays in every area of development to have delays in 2 areas.
  1. Watching fosterling 2's face today when she realised that not only was she bouncing up and down while sitting but that she was also able to move forwards (she is 8 months).
purpleme12 · 31/01/2022 00:48

Awww I'm so happy that you had some happiness today @bloodywhitecat
