Door slammers!

What is with serial door slammers?
Is it a generational thing that every person over the age of 50 seems to slam their doors and cupboards without any consideration of the wooden thump disturbing others!?
(No I’m not being ageist - I have witnessed at least 10 relatives/neighbours/friends who do this, particularly the elderly aunts)
Is it not something people realise can be heard miles away or they don’t care?
Does it grate through anyone else like nails on a chalk board and make you jump out of your skin at the sudden bomb explosion-like bang or do I have misophonia?
We use the handles so it doesn’t make any noise as that’s what the handles are for!
Rant over.

Not a generational thing.
If we are going anecdotal I know dozens of people over 50 who don't slam doors.

Ok kind of tongue in cheek generalising who does it most, but why can’t people be more considerate!? Sad

My downstairs neighbours, in their 30s do this. Also, when they're chopping food while making dinner in the evening, it's so loud I often feel as if I live above a blacksmiths, & then after what I assume is wash up, dry & put away, the kitchen doors are slammed repeatedly, annoying noisy feckers...

Yes our new next door neighbours do this, really irritating

My 22 yr old dd has a habit of slamming doors.

NannyGythaOgg · 30/01/2022 00:06

You are being ageist

It's got nothing to do with fucking age and it's why I am so pleased to be detached because I can have some say in what happens in my house but not in others.

Now 67, detached (thankfully) for 50 years in 3 different houses

My toddler thinks all doors must be slammedGrin

NannyGythaOgg · 30/01/2022 00:08

sorry 25 years detached (after 20 in a semi)

My parents insist on slamming our doors, it's infuriating!! They think we're joking when we ask them not to!!

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 30/01/2022 00:19

My front door is a fire door. I always tell people this and to not let it slam
Without fail, they let it slam. And the bathroom cabinet door flies open Grin
