It's my husband's 50th in March and I'm thinking about somewhere to go

What I'd like ...

No overnight stay - we are only in Oxford so would hop on the train

Doing something pretty cool. So a nice meal somewhere off the beaten track - no curry, has to cater for vegetarians, burgers would be good too!

Maybe a show? Is that a bit boring though?

I'd be up for anything a bit different really. Any ideas please?

The Museum of Automata is fun and fairly central.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 29/01/2022 12:58

Go to a Georgian restaurant.

MayThePawsBeWithYou · 29/01/2022 13:00

What does he like doing, does he have any particular interests, would you prefer vegetarian or burgers

What about something like a matinee performance of this?

Followed by dinner at Sarastros.

Not sure what something cool entails but I love Dennis Severs house.

Italian? Circolo Popolare? Very on trend at the mo but the food is good.

Mildreds in Camden is 👍

AtillatheHun · 29/01/2022 14:00

Beaten to it on Denis Severs’ house!

minipie · 29/01/2022 14:05

An immersive experience??

EllaMinnowPee · 29/01/2022 15:46

These are so cool thanks for the ideas

As to what he likes ..

Golf (but he's a pro player so not really relevant I don't think as mini golf isn't something he goes for!)

Darts

Good food but not fussy portions. Decent burgers kinda thing

Sports. He's fairly sporty

@Shiningpath

The Museum of Automata is fun and fairly central.
DS and I really enjoyed this! It was recommended on here (maybe even by you, Shiningpath?!)

It's just the size of a smallish shop and doesn't take very long but it's well worth a visit for a unique, fun experience. The quirky humour was right up our street.

runningoutofnewnames · 29/01/2022 16:00

Oh, hang on, am I talking about a different place? I mean Novelty Automation, in Holborn.

What's the Museum of automation, is that different?

We used to live in Angel and used to go to Sadlers Wells a lot. The shows (mostly modern ballet) are brilliant, can highly recommend and Angel has loads of restaurants.

EllaMinnowPee · 29/01/2022 18:56

Have booked sky garden!

Thanks all

That's witness for the prosecution, Dennis severs house and sky garden

Sorted!
