Ah, there you are little dry pingywings. 🐧🐧🐧

Shiny new thread. I've swept the berg and we're good to go. Hop on.

I'm in for a damp February rather than dry with the occasional planned drinks but not every Thursday/Friday/Saturday

FanGirlX · 02/02/2022 23:03

I've had two beers chilling in the fridge since yesterday. Can't be bothered drinking them. They are nice craft, organic beers too. A gift from a friend to celebrate the end of DJ. It maybe that I don't normally drink in the week anyway and I'll feel like drinking them on Friday.

spellingtest · 02/02/2022 23:37

I had a little craving tonight. That wee voice telling me it was February and it's ok to have a drink.

I resisted and I'm glad I did. Might put some wine in the fridge for Friday.

Absolutely NOT drinking on a school night though.

Well done everyone who has stayed dry and also well done to those who have realised that wine (or tipple of choice) doesn't always taste or feel as good as we think it does.

lunklitdays · 02/02/2022 23:50

I've just eaten, some heated up mashed potatoes and butter, 2 jammy dodgers, a packet of mini chips and half a tub of crunchy peanut butter with a teaspoon. I'm couldn't stop.

In bed now feeling quite nauseous 😂 but I didn't drink. Every cloud and all that I guess!

HotWaterAndLemon · 03/02/2022 09:14

Day 34/34, to avoid temptation tonight I have booked an exercise class.

I’ve also bought a big bottle of innocent smoothie to have tonight afterwards. So far this month I have surprised myself and not binged in the evenings. Hopefully the scales on Sundays will reward me accordingly…

HotWaterAndLemon · 03/02/2022 09:16

@lunklitdays I think we have similar personalities! Hope you managed to get some sleep after that!

HPLikecraft · 03/02/2022 17:25

Checking in to try and keep spirits up (not that kind of spirit, obv).
It's February. I'm dry, think I'll be able to stay dry and was able to stay vegan throughout January. Had eggs this morning but probably won't go back to dairy.
Anyway, the challenge now is to lose weight. I've got my leggings and gymy things on to encourage me to "pop" onto the treadmill for 15 minutes this evening. Dreading it.
I bought myself a nice new (to me) coat on eBay that's a size too small by way of encouragement! DH would flip his lid if he knew.😬

Not sure how many if us are still here. Wave a flipper and let us know! 🐧

I'm still here.

Was 27/31 in January and I'm planning to have 12th February off but other than that I want to stay dry for February.

DavetheCat2001 · 03/02/2022 17:38

I'm still here..no big desire to drink at all at the moment, but thinking I may have a few on Saturday as am going to a birthday party..definitely do not want to wake up feeling like death on Sunday though, so plan is to have a soft drink/water in between.

Has anyone here felt quite drunk after one or two after their month off the grog?

ColouringPencils · 03/02/2022 18:00

Earlier today I was happily thinking how I just don't want to drink at all, and then as soon as it started getting dark and the streetlights came on, I started to think of Friday evening and the lovely taste of wine. Could almost taste it in my mouth! That is the strongest craving I have had so far so tomorrow might be hard. I do have to pick DD up from an activity early evening, which might get in the way of the witching hour. Isn't the mind so brilliant at tripping us up?

HPLikecraft · 03/02/2022 19:35

Good to see some familiar 'faces' still here!

@DavetheCat2001 no, I didn't feel drunk at all when I had wine on the 1st. Think I'd built up such a tolerance over the decades!

DavetheCat2001 · 03/02/2022 21:01

@HPLikecraft did you feel like you could take it or leave it?

I'm quite enjoying the 'I can leave it' feeling and worried if I have a few on Saturday I might get a real taste for it again!

HotWaterAndLemon · 03/02/2022 22:12

I went to my exercise class, it’s run by a local instructor.
@HPLikecraft I don’t know if I could find the motivation to head upstairs in my own home and start exercising!
Going to the class I do has some accountability as you have to let them know in the morning if you are going. Harder to sack it off.

My watch tells me I burnt 411 calories in a hour. Pretty good going!

JaquiRussell · 03/02/2022 22:46

Still here, day 34. Staying dry through Feb, feeling good apart from I took a selfie tonight to compare against the one I took at the start of Jan and couldn't really see a difference. I've apparently lost 7lbs too but 🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe it's doing wonders on my insides first?!

ThatsMe123 · 04/02/2022 00:45

Found you! Smile
Still dry, despite several challenges (pub, dinner with friends, etc.). And the plan is to continue well into February and March, but maybe with the occasional drink. So far I haven't really felt like it though, even though I have two nice bottles of wine in the cupboard.

One really odd thing I have noticed is how many references to drinking (wine) there are in movies and on tv. E.g. I was watching 'This is us' today and at Randall's family dinner they had some huge glasses of red wine. Was thinking they must be several units each Grin...

Like others on the thread i was failing to see any effects on my appearance, but then had two people comment today how amazing i look and have I lost a lot of weight. So i guess they see something that i don't... Maybe I'm just being my own worst critic??

HotWaterAndLemon · 04/02/2022 08:01

Today I’m on 35 days and that matches my January 2021 run.
Determined not to drink this weekend, despite having a major temptation being thrown at me. Tonight should be ok, it’s tomorrow that’s going to be the struggle.
Will keep you posted!

7lbs? That's amazing.
Peridot1 · 04/02/2022 08:50

Morning all. Tried to post last night but lost it.

Stayed dry but was tempted. Acknowledged to myself that I will always be tempted and it passes. I did have a sip of DH’s g&t and then had a ginger kombucha.

Quite enjoying kombucha in the evening as I feel it’s doing me good as well as being AF. Need to research and make sure I’m having good ones though.

Have a good day all. I’m off to have a mammogram in Morrison’s car park which sounds a bit public! Grin

Cherrymix · 04/02/2022 08:53

Morning all. I am a bit annoyed with myself that after doing so well in Jan, everything has gone a bit pear shaped in Feb. Clearly one month is not enough to reset so I am going to get back on the berg (again) and stay here for the 100 day stint.

Peridot1 · 04/02/2022 09:27

It’s so easy to slip back isn’t it @Cherrymix? I think if I’d given in last night I knew deep down I’d have just slipped back into drinking every night.

Flower1976 · 04/02/2022 10:57

Hi all, I’m still here!! We had a drink last night as not in work today. It was a bit meh! Not planning on anymore now till next week as can’t slip back to everyday. Just hope I stick with it! Will keep you updated!

blackteaplease · 04/02/2022 11:07

Still dry here, I'm beginning to think cravings are just another thought. I had cbt last year and now acknowledge worries and negative thoughts but had never made the same connection with cravings.

I'm knackered today, dd fell at netball practice earlier in the week and couldn't bear weight on her leg. Off we went to a&e for an xray and got home at 1am. To top it off tesco have just cancelled my massive food order so my day off for wellbeing is now replaced by a 45 min drive to the supermarket for food.

I'm not planning to drink tonight though, I don't think I'd have the willpower to stop. AF beers are chilling already.

HPLikecraft · 04/02/2022 14:15

Hey everyone, glad you've all stayed with us!

@DavetheCat2001 Did I feel like I could take it or leave it, you ask? Well this is alcohol we're talking about, so the answer will not be straightforward! I've been able to choose not to recently, though had some very strong urges some evenings; but once I got going (which is what I think you were asking) then no, I wanted to keep going. Ever was it so. This is my main problem with booze: once I start I don't want to stop.

Good to hear stories of weight loss. I've lost nothing yet, but will soon🤞. Yes, dragging my flabby carcass onto the treadmill of an evening is like willfully jumping into boiling oil @HotWaterAndLemon but I really feel I have no choice.
@ThatsMe123 I thought you were looking at bit trimmer too! Wink

Scream all you like if it helps, @ColouringPencils. It's much healthier than alcohol. You WILL be dry tonight.
