Anyone with a bed with storage?

Leonthelobster · 27/01/2022 16:05

I am really short of space and after a white bed frame with storage draws. I’ve got a memory foam mattress. I want something that doesn’t squeak, doesn’t make the mattress feel too hard and won’t cost the Earth. Any recommendations or which to avoid ? TIA

Divan base with drawers and buy white wooden headboard separately.
Bensons or Argos are my go to shops when bed shopping

I’ve got the Brimnes bed from ikea, with the storage headboard (optional).

Would an Ottoman bed work for you? I actually think storage space is better and more easily accessible in Ottoman style rather than drawers, but I guess its personal choice. IKEA Malm in white comes in Ottoman style and neat with clean lines. I think you can get it with storage drawers too, if you prefer that to Ottoman.

I’d be ok with an ottoman as long as it’s not too heavy to lift up. I was looking at IKEA. I’ll check the malm ottoman. Thanks everyone this is very useful.

We've got an Ikea Malm ottoman and it's great. There is so much more storage than one with just drawers, you've got the whole footprint of the bed base as storage.

It's not too heavy lift and we couldn't manage without that storage now.

I got the white ottoman from argos. Lifts not heavy. With memory foam mattress we already had. No squeaks or anything.

We bought a divan with drawers underneath from Dreams. They are very helpful and you can test the beds.

We have an ottoman. Its the best thing ever and worth every penny! Lots of storage and easy to lift/push down. Got it from dreams.

We have an ottoman bed and it’s brilliant much better than the drawers we used to have. Most of them have gas struts to make it easy to lift - it’s actually harder to put it back down again.

I also have the Brimnes, but didn’t buy the headboard.

We had one on order which never turned up so we ordered another one from www.divanbedwarehouse.co.uk/... I honestly could not be more happy with it. We went for the four drawer option, its really good quality and the drawers provide alot of extra space (we keep pjs in one, underwear in another and bedding in the third, we don't use the 4th as its blocked by out nightstand.

I would 10000% use them again

Plus...theres the option to not only have them deliver it but also build it for you and they take away all the rubbish afterwards (I couldn't be bothered attempting to build one but the Ikea ones are pretty decent as well as another option)

I've had beds with drawers under and always found they don't maximise space properly and dd's v expensive bed with drawers underneath is a pain because you have to pull them all the way out to get to half her stuff, you obviously have to keep the floor clear all round and the drawers do slip off the runners occasionally (we didn't pay for the bed thankfully, it was passed on to us by a friend).

We invested in an ottoman with gas struts for our room. 10yo DS can lift it one handed so it's definitely easy and in terms of storage, its vast. We keep all bedding, towels, loo rolls, spare winter clothes and various other things under there, including all Christmas presents when necessary and there's still acres of space. It's cavernous.

Had an ottoman bed from Argos (fine cheaply made) and had one from bensons for beds, quality is good and it’s sturdy and feels ‘expensive’ but the service was absolutely fucking shocking, not sure if bensons for beds are even still around.

Either way ottoman is great for storage space

I also have the Ikea malm ottoman in white. It’s easy to open and I am a weakling! I hate the look of divans and ottomans are so much more space-efficient than drawers.

Ottomans are great. Mine is gas loaded so can be lifted with one finger

If Ottomans have gas loaded springs then I’d definitely go for one. I’ll check out all the links thanks so much. I think Bensons Beds are still around but remember them not having a great reputation so I’ll steer clear.

I have a John Lewis 'Anyday' Ottoman. It's great and is easy to lift with the gas lift piston thingies. Loads of storage space underneath.

I assume they're popular as they're always out of stock. If you sign up for the stock alerts, you'll get notified quite quickly when you can order again:

ForcingSmiles. The divanbed warehouse looks really good. It’s a help that they have a Klarna option too. They get good reviews as well. Thanks so much for the recommendation

Be careful with beds from ikea as the measurements are not always compatible with mattresses other than IKEA ones

I've got an ikea otterman bed. Just dont put the shitty floor on it. It can be heavy to lift if your beds full of stuff but for changing it etc its light enough to lift.

We got an ottoman and it was a game changer. I can lift it with one hand.

Most ikea beds are uk sizes now or have this as an option.

We have an ottoman from Dreams, so does DS. They are great. 0% finance is an option if you need it - people on here get very sniffy about it, but there's nothing wrong with it, it doesn't cost any extra and you can overpay or pay it off early without penalty.
