World book day for girls

I have a DD who's at preschool, I can of course buy her the of one costume of her favourite books, but I have realised they are all male characters, such as Paddington, Zog, stickman. She's not into princesses as yet, she's just turned 3. I already have a DS so hadn't really thought about the lack of female leads.

There was actually a thread specifically about books for very young girls with girl characters on here previously with some fab suggestions

Can she give you a decent answer if you ask her who she wants to dress up as?

My DS went as Veruca Salt in year 5. I bought him a (synthetic) fur coat from the charity shop. He was awesome

There’s an Amelia Fang costume when she is a bit older. We love Amelia Fang in this house. DD1 wrote the author, Laura Ellen Anderson a fan mail letter and got a lovely letter back.

DD went as Stickman one year. She spent most of lockdown in the costume actually. It was adorable.

My DD has only had 2 book days due to Covid, she’s been a flamingo (flo the flamingo book) and a mermaid (the singing mermaid) she’s always had lots of choices of female characters in the books we’ve got, maybe have a look at her books and ask her if there’s any in particular she would like to be.

I asked her what she would like to dress up as and she said "I'm not dressed up, I'm just DD" We have pretend play stuff, but not costumes as such.
