My old passport hasn't been delivered to the passport office. It has been a week. Is this normal?

I sent off my old passport last Monday and paid for 1st class, signed for delivery (this was recommended by the passport office). It still hasn't arrived and I can't initiate an investigation/complaint until around 13 working days have passed. Has anyone had experience of their old passport not being delivered or the timescales for delivery to the passport office?

Absolutely! Great to hear yours was processed quickly. Hopefully getting them back will be much less stressful.

Just to update on our passport. We’ve had the same as a previous poster……Passport office confirmed they received it on Friday, but still showing as not being delivered by Royal Mail 😅.

Thank you. I have claimed my 2.25 back! The principle and all that!

My new passport arrived today. It took two weeks from applying/posting my old one to getting it delivered to me which isn't actually too bad. If RM had delivered it when they were supposed to it would only have taken about a week, although I guess I don't know when they delivered it given they didn't update the tracking!

I hope everyone else gets theirs soon.

I sent my daughter’s with special delivery and it has been signed and delivered on the 7-Mar-2022. However I still haven’t receive the confirmation from HM passport office they have received my passport. It’s worrying me:(

I'm having the same problem, it was sent special delivery on the 15th April. Signed for according to royal mail in the 19rh but the passport has not registered it.
We go in hols in July and I'm freaking out...

I sent my son and daughter's passports (signed for) on the same day (6 May). My daughter's, sent to Bootle, has been processed and printed according to the notifications. I'm still getting text messages from the Passport office asking me to send in my son's passport, even though on Royal Mail website it says it was received and signed for on 7 May.

I submitted my online passport renewal on 17 May and received a same day text message confirming receipt, providing a PEX number and asking me to send my old passport to their Hemel Hempstead office which I did the following day. The text provided a "Track Your Application" link but when I use it I receive a "details not found" message. I'm assuming this is because my old passport is still lying around in their old office waiting to be linked with my application but does anyone know whether I'm wrong to assume this?

It's been near to 3 months for me.
And the passport office have not yet received my old passport.
The question is... Where is my old passport?!! Like you I sent my old passport off 1st recorded.

Nothing.

Quite worrying.
I've a month to go until I will have to re apply for a while entire new one.

Hi just been reading some of these and there is one that says the passport office had signed for the passport, then lost it, what happened next, as think this has happened to my friends and they sent it 12 weeks ago and the passport office won’t help them, so any advice would be great

Well one week is OK.
I sent mine off 6 months ago. It never got processed. I phoned the passport office and they seem to think its stuck with all the other millions of ones they get each week. So unlucky for me, I now have to apply for a new passport from scratch and pay again. I did apply for a refund explaining the situation. No refund.
I'm quite disappointed. Its just a money maker for them.
They could at least allow longer for the processing to be.

No. The passport office never received it.
I did send it tracked.
They've no record of it. So I'm going to have to pay again. 😔
