TV Licence

Had a note through the door from the TV licence people. Coming to get me soon as I don't have a licence Smile

We don't watch BBC! I pay for Netflix and Amazon Prime and that's all we watch. I assumed I don't need a TV licence, we have 1 TV that's never actually on. It's for Gaming stuff.

Anyone else only have Netflix and Amazon Prime and not pay for a TV Licence?

We don't have a TV license and watch shows via Netflix, Now or Prime (never live). We notified them online and they sent us confirmation, I think we do it every 3 years and never hear anything else from them.

We don't have a tv license and have declared it, the first time they kept asking/sending letters to be sure but eventually someone from tv license turned up and we just showed them we only use netflix, now tv etc he asked to see the iplayer app and I showed him its not logged in, never has been hence asking for log in details when opening app. Also showed him that the 'live' streaming isn't installed etc he ticked a box and left. Have to declare every 3 years and just aware someone could turn up asking to see etc.

You just need to go online and declare you don't have one and tick the right box to say you use netflix etc

The letter I had the other day was pretty threatening! I just ignore them

I thought Now tv and Amazon prime video needs a tv licence?

Brahumbug · 25/01/2022 08:31

As the others have posted, complete the online declaration. Very important point, if they do turn up m, DO NOT do not let them in, keep them at the door as they have no right of entry.

DatingDickheads · 25/01/2022 21:10

Thanks all. I will complete the online form. Hopefully they won't turn up at the door. I definitely won't let them in!

Yes but I filled in the licence declaration. I also deleted my iplayer log in.

Oh it takes them forever to actually send an enforcement officer. Despite doing hundreds of declarations in three yearly cycles there always seem to be some they don't record. In 14 years I've had one enforcement officer turn up at a single building. I wouldn't panic!

Twillow · 25/01/2022 21:37

A note, or a letter? They send out monthly threatening letters in a cycle of about 4 types. I've been getting them for 3 years. No-one has turned up or left a note. Then again, I don't answer the door if I'm not expecting anyone and I couldn't let them in anyway because we have a reactive dog. Not that I watch live tv anyway. Apparently they do the same whether you register or not so I've never got round to it.
