Prep Schools in Hampshire/ Surrey - St. Neot's / Churchers / Amesbury / Edgeborough

Hi Everyone

We have just started looking at Prep schools in Hampshire/ Surrey. We are particularly impressed with all of the above schools. Our children will be Yr 3 and Yr 5 on point of entry.

Does anyone who knows these schools - either through their children being there, or hearsay (also helpful!) - have any advice? Insights? Inside knowledge? We are looking for a happy school for all-rounders. Not pushy, definitely down-to-earth, but who also get the best out of their students and help them find their 'thing'!

Particularly interested to hear more about St Neots. We really liked this school but feels like there might be more to know here.... it seems like it might have had a bit of an up and down time of late?

Thanks so much :)

Aldro - it's a children's paradise.

I don't know anything about St Neot's or Edgeborough but know lots of people who sent their children to Churcher's and Amesbury and all were very happy with their choice. I don't know anyone currently at Amesbury though, so that recommendation is a little out of date.

The only issue with Amesbury was having to decide what to do with girls at 11. Many left and those who stayed on till 13 were definitely in the minority.

My DS has just started at St Neot's so I can't really comment on the past but the new Head is brilliant & it definitely seems as if he's bringing the school forward.
We're really happy with our choice. He's only in pre-prep but we were so impressed with the children who toured us and I did think if my DS turns out half as confident & polite I'd be thrilled. We were looking for similar to you in schools and I can wholeheartedly say that St Neot's is it. The children have so much opportunity and in such fun ways. Honestly, my DS has no idea how lucky he is.

Oops sorry, just realised this is an old thread that I was watching..
Which school did you decide? Maybe I'll see you at a coffee morning.
