samsung to iphone camera comparisons

I have been a samsung user for a few years now and currently have a note 20. Although it is a great phone I am very disappointed with the camera on this model it is laggy constantly captures people with their eyes closed mid blink overall image quality isn't great.video seems grainy unless it's excellent outdoor lighting. I'm very disappointed in the camera in what is supposed to be a high end phone. I'm thinking of switching to apple for my next phone just for the camera. Do apple have better cameras?will I see a noticeable difference or will I just be wasting my money as its the cost of iphones which is kind of putting me off. Anyone had experience of using cameras on both phones?

I had a samsung galaxy s7 and then S10 for the last 4 years. I switched to an iphone in May last year and havnt looked back. The photo quality is brilliant

@Newdad19 I loved my samsung s7! I actually prefered the camera on the old s7 to the one on this note 20. which iPhone model do you have and does it take some getting used to going from android to apple? we're you able to transfer content over easily. I have also always stuck with Samsung as could expand storage with an sd card. Now Samsung have removed that capability I may aswell consider a switch.

I just switched from an iPhone to a Samsung. Camera is nowhere near as good as my iPhone was.

bigyellowTpot · 22/01/2022 13:43

@Hotpinkangel19 which samsung model do you have?

I have an oldish iPhone (7 plus) and find its camera quite disappointing compared with family members’ Samsung S models.

It’s laggy in low light IME, but colours and exposure are off a lot of the time. I generally edit anything I share (the edit functions are mostly excellent, except for tint which is limited)

DD1 has the 12 pro (?) though and hers is way better than mine. Her sunsets always seem pretty accurate and mine are useless Grin

I find this note fine for capturing scenic pictures although I've not got any sunset pics yet but it's photos of people that I'm mostly disappointed with it really seems to lack detail and as I said earlier is laggy. The flash is horrendous and just totally white washes everything.

I just swapped from a Samsung A40 to iPhone 11 this week, the photos are so much sharper on the iPhone. Night mode is brilliant too, took a photo of the garden around 7pm when it was dark and it looks like it was taken while there was still a little natural light!

BearSoFair · 22/01/2022 14:04

Also if the price is off putting (it was for me as well!) I'd really recommend looking at Music Magpie. My iPhone was £380 in their winter sale for the 128gb model in 'very good' condition and it has one tiny (TINY, if I wasn't peering at it knowing it was pre-owned I probably wouldn't have even spotted it) chip on the bottom, and battery health 90%. Well worth the saving.

S20 fe. I'm guessing it's not the best though!

to be fair it is an iphone 7 + so it obviously isn't gonna be great

In case you were open to alternatives, I've just stopped using my Samsung S20 and gone for a Google Pixel 6 - very impressed with the camera so far. Might be worth considering the Pixels if you're fond of Android?

contactornotthatisthequestion · 23/01/2022 17:00

have a look at xaomi (sp?) phones, dh has one that has a 108mp camera and its fab, plus he also gets a free screen replacement if accidentaly broken in the 1st year

@ifellintoarabbithole thank you for this. I have a Samsung s20 which is due upgrade shortly and always been let down by camera so did look at the Google pixel 6, I think that's me convinced
bigyellowTpot · 26/01/2022 16:00

@ifellintoarabbithole I've thought about the pixel phones but wasn't sure. my friend has an older pixel 3 and the video quality is fantastic on it. I like that fact the you get free unlimited Google photos full resolution uploads aswell as now it has to be paid for if you exceed your storage limit.

I have an iPhone 12, far better camera than my Dp's Samsung 10

bigyellowTpot · 26/01/2022 18:03

I think samsung cameras started to go down hill when they started to put multiple cameras on them. the single camera S9 was good then from the multiple camera s10 onwards they've been a bit rubbish.

Samsung user since the galaxy s2 up to galaxy s20. Most important thing for me is the camera as I go to a lot of comedy shows and like to take pictures.

Swapped to an iphone 13 pro recently and don't miss the samsung one bit, wish I had swapped a lot sooner. pictures are great.

Chakraleaf · 26/01/2022 18:32

I don't think apple iPhone is a patch on Samsung cameras!

bigyellowTpot · 29/01/2022 13:23

@irbfdw how have you found the switch from android to apple and what made you switch? in what way do you find the camera better?
