Hi. My baby is 3 weeks old.
Her eyes under the sunlight are this colour. What do you think? How are they going to be in the future? Turn to brown or green/grey?

They all start that colour.

Tdcp · 20/01/2022 18:57

Yeah babies are born with blue eyes, even animals.

I was expecting them to be dark already because her dad is asian with very dark eyes and my eyes are very dark too Smile

I think they'll change in some way.

Both my DC had blue eyes at birth and for a good few months afterwards.

I'm fair with blue eyes and my DH is of Chinese heritage.

DC now have light brown/hazel and the other green eyes.

It's fascinating as we were convinced they'd both have dark eyes like my DH due to his apparent dominant eye colour but not the case.

MWestie · 20/01/2022 20:14

And congratulations on your new baby!

BertieBotts · 20/01/2022 20:16

I can't see the picture but it's too early to say. They don't get their true eye colour for several months if not years. DS1's eyes kept changing colour until he was about 7.

Thank you so much Smile

babies are NOT born with blue eyes. so ignorant that people believe and peddle that 🙄. lots of white babies are born with blue eyes.

Hi OP, my mum is Indian, my dad British with dark brown eyes.

My brother had dark brown eyes from birth, and I had bright blue eyes until I was two, Mum was super excited.

My eyes then went through to green, hazel and darkened to brown by adulthood.

chrlng · 20/01/2022 20:27

@DinosApple

Wow! Your eyes were blue until 2 years old and changed? I guess I won't know my baby's final eye colour until later on but it's just a guessing game Grin

Beakerandbungle · 20/01/2022 20:33

Yes was going to say both mine ( mixed race) were born with very dark eyes - even my one who was blonde ( his eyes lightened a little)

DinosApple · 20/01/2022 20:33

Haha yes, it's definitely a guessing game!
Both my DC had bright blue eyes that changed to green at around two, and settled at golden hazel by 5.
Mine are dark brown now and DH has blue grey.

thaegumathteth · 20/01/2022 20:34

Who knows? Dh has brown eyes, I have blue / green eyes. Dd was born with black eyes which have lightened to dark brown. Ds was born with vvv blue eyes and they stayed that was until he was 10 years old. He's 15 now and they're mostly light blue / green same as mine. Very very different from the dark blue.

Sexnotgender · 20/01/2022 20:36

@Tdcp

Yeah babies are born with blue eyes, even animals.
My daughter was born with incredibly dark brown almost black eyes.
secular39 · 21/01/2022 00:59

My DC's eye colour change at approx. 3 months. But please do not fantasise about your child having light coloured eyes. Brown/dark eyes are beautiful too.

chrlng · 21/01/2022 06:08

@secular39

I hope her eyes are dark (the darker the better) Smile
I have always loved brown/dark brown eyes.
The reason I'm asking is because my mum's eyes are green. Both her parents had brown eyes and she just born with green just like her grandma. I think that's not the case with us because Asian genes are way stronger and she looks like my DH already!

BertieBotts · 21/01/2022 09:29

Yes but if they are blue at birth it doesn't mean they will stay that way, that's all.

This is the colour 7 weeks later. She's 7 weeks now and I think it's getting lighter 🤔 I see some brown in the center but they look kind of hazel now...
