Customer Service - The Good

Whydoesthecatalwaysdothat · 20/01/2022 17:39

I’m having either really brilliant customer service at the moment or the absolute pits. I thought it would be interesting to start a list of companies that are easy to deal with and actually seem to care about their customers/resolve problems efficiently.

Please feel free to add. I’ll start….

Waitrose
John Lewis

Harrods. You get given the direct mobile number of your named helper. No “press 7 to speak to our customer services team, your cal is important to us”.

EE and EDF have both been great for me recently, really friendly people who are chatty without being overly salesy

HMRC. Their voice recognition system is excellent and always understands what I have said, even if it is something complicated. Also, the staff have always been v helpful once I have got through.

Northumberlandlass · 20/01/2022 17:49

Twinnings (tea people) - wonderful!

The HMRC online stuff is good too. Much better than a lot of private companies!

I’m sure this will be controversial but when I’ve had to deal with them Sports Direct have always been really helpful and sorted my problems without a quibble.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 20/01/2022 18:01

EE.
Helpful and patient. (The latter is important!)

DVLA

Local Post Office - unfailingly fabulous.

Passport Office.

BT.

All have been amazing.

Yeah, I don't shop in there because they're notoriously horrid employers and will only issue credit notes for returns!

I'd never say a company as a whole, because it depends on the individuals and wherever your perspectives are that need resolving.

saturdayhelicopter · 20/01/2022 19:19

I've had good experiences twice with AO recently. Nothing complicated but we ordered to be delivered to a third party and the things we ordered we just plain wrong. Totally our fault. Their installers packed them back up and took them away again and when we called to discuss options the staff we dealt with were so friendly and polite despite clearly working from home.

Would definitely order from them again.

Had good experiences with John Lewis in the past, though the fact that they've stopped EU deliveries keeps them firmly in my bad books.

Good:
EE Plusnet
Aldi
Iceland
DPD

Bad:
Asda
Lady V dresses
Waitrose
Specsavers

sleaf · 20/01/2022 19:26

Forgot to mention AO as good.

RudolfsLeftToe · 20/01/2022 19:27

@Whydoesthecatalwaysdothat they were the only place that had a sold out birthday present that had been promised to my DC, not by me I might add 🙄 and I was really worried when it all went wrong but they were actually really quick to sort it all out. I don’t make a habit of shopping there but credit where it’s due.
