What makes you happy?

For me it's being on the moors dangling my feet in a stream with the sun on my face listening to the birds or reading a book in the field with my horse and snuggling up in bed with dh and a nice cup of tea.

Simple things really. What makes you happy?

Listening to 'Rebel Yell' and dancing around on my own

Reading in bed in the morning with the curtains only v slightly open and a cuppa (or loads of cupsa if there's time)

Walking in the sun wearing summer clothing and flip flops, preferably near the sea or a body of water

Painting or drawing a portrait when I am at a particular point where I am pleased with the likeness and just moving to the finishing touches and highlighting

Cuddling my children or my boyfriend

Going to meet a friend I haven't seen in a while armed with some booze and a child free morning Grin

Being with my lovely friends who make me realise that although there's a lot of crap going on right now, ultimately I am very loved and very lucky.

A wide open field - no one in sight and no risk of there being. Just me and the dog and a free afternoon of walking. Either on a balmy May Day or a frigid frosty one this time of year.

Ilovechoc12 · 20/01/2022 22:01

Clean house

Being somewhere hot (that I can wear a skirt and top and not feel ice cold - as I always feel exceptionally cold)

Swimming in a warm sea

Walking in the the woods. Pottering around the garden. On a sunny day, doesn't matter if it's cold

Getting up early, before the rest of the family, making coffee, feeding the cat, the birds and the garden fox then drinking coffee as the sun rises, watching them all feed. My idea of bliss.

Going for a walk at a local lake where there's a flock of white doves that will come down and feed from your hand. I always carry bird seed on that walk.

A deep hot bath, especially after a long day of physical exercise.

A really tidy, clean room with soft lighting and fresh flowers.

A cuddle from the cat with a deep rattling purr.

Teenage DC giving me a sudden hug or doing something kind without being asked, like making a cup of tea or hoovering the stairs.

DH cooking dinner and then saying, 'You look tired, put your feet up. I'll tidy up and bring you a cup of tea.'

Juletide · 20/01/2022 22:37

When my cat gently taps my shoulder.
The small birds on the feeders.
Craft packages in the post.
A glass of wine with dinner.

The small quiet things really.

A (short!) winter walk followed by a cup of tea and a slice of cake in a nice warm cafe.

Aria999 · 21/01/2022 23:05

So many of the ones pp have said are true for me but I haven't done them forever!

Swimming in the sea surrounded by mountains with DH.

The constant glimpses of the mountains and the ocean and the palm trees as i went about my day, when we lived in coastal LA.

A short but intense workout (afterwards).

When the kids are both in school for a whole day with no illness, school closures, late drop off or early pickup required and I can actually Get Something Done for a change.

Finishing something I have been working on (either at work or in the house, a tidy room or big pile of sorted laundry will do!)

A glass or three of wine and a nice meal on a terrace with a view.

A real log fire in the evening, especially at the end of a day's hiking.

Playing on the computer with DH after the kids are in bed.

Cuddles with the kids when they're being nice.

When DS (6) tidies his room (very rare).

Hanging out with my friends on a girls night, before I moved city and stopped having any.

Being slim (thank you Andrew jenkinson)
