Is this a tick?

My daughter just found this creature in her bed. It was near our kitten but she didn’t see it on either of them. I know these are terrible photos but could this be a tick? And if so do I need to do anything? She’s an indoor cat so shouldn’t have picked up anything…

No, not a tick, that looks like a beetle (ladybird type).

Ticks are smaller with more sinister legs (spider family) like this.

No, looks like a carpet beetle

I’d pop that little fella outside, he looks harmless.

No, it's not. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

MsWalterMitty · 19/01/2022 22:50

No. Ticks legs are all at the front when they’re that big

Mykittensmittens · 19/01/2022 22:51

100% carpet beetle

Ticks are arachnids with 8 legs and no antennae. Yours appears to have antennae? So possibly not a tick.

I've never heard of a carpet beetle.

I thought it looked like an emo ladybird

Bluebell1234 · 19/01/2022 22:54

Phew! Thanks. Glad it’s not a tick. But now I’m worried about what it means to have a carpet beetle! Is this bad news?! 😱
