Have I missed any decent new dramas lately? Not holding my breath...

It's a faint hope, but can anyone recommend anything decent that's come out recently? We tried C4's "Screw" last night and thought it was bloody awful. Have watched the new series of the Bay, that was all right. I feel like there should have been some new drama over the Christmas period, there is usually something worth watching, but we all had Covid over Christmas and I sort of slept through it!

Sorry it's a dull thread.

'Anne' on ITV, gripping and utterly harrowing. Keep a hanky close by. Recommending to all my friends.

Another vote for The Tourist.

Also not for everyone but Rules of the Game was entertaining.

Both BBC.

Is everyone recommending Stay Close watching the same Stay Close as me? It’s awful

Hidden Assets on BBC 4. Can get all episodes on demand. It took me a while to get into, but ended up bingeing it! 😃

Stay Close was ridiculous.

Maid was good if you haven't seen that yet - daily grind for a victim of her circumstances

NameChangeinHaste · 19/01/2022 20:17

Agree that DopeSick was superb.
Have you tried Money Heist?

Whatwouldnanado · 19/01/2022 21:06

We enjoyed Around The World in 80 Days, iplayer with David Tennant.

BashfulClam · 19/01/2022 22:01

Dopesick is really good.

@sadpapercourtesan

We do have Disney+, I'll check that out, thanks Smile

We prefer non-American drama though, as a rule.

Why? It's much better than the UK
Anoisagusaris · 19/01/2022 22:10

We just finished War and Peace - it has Paul Dano, Stephen Rea, Jim Broadbent and loads of other great actors.

The Chestnut Man on Netflix

Gomorrah is excellent

Sweetchocolatecandy · 19/01/2022 22:15

Anne and Four Lives are the best two dramas we have watched lately.

DickMabutt73962 · 19/01/2022 22:57

Another vote for Chestnut man. Dark, but good

Welldarn · 19/01/2022 23:09

.

CarButtonCloth · 19/01/2022 23:15

Another vote for The Tourist.
Found Stay Close and Safe, previous similar Harlan Coben (sp?) drama absolutely unwatchable.

They're older but presume you've seen Normal People, It's A Sin and I May Destroy You - all great if not.

Glitterandunicorns · 19/01/2022 23:15

We loved Vigil. I can definitely recommend it!

Bakewelltart987 · 19/01/2022 23:19

The bay on itv hub.

22itsallnew · 19/01/2022 23:24

Another old one but Years and Years on i-player is good

Justonedayatatime11 · 19/01/2022 23:31

Just finished The Stranger on Netflix and really enjoyed it! Stuck for what to binge next

DoodleBelle · 19/01/2022 23:44

Didn’t love Stay Close but thought The Stranger was good. Would also recommend The Fall on Netflix.

Bywayofanupdate · 19/01/2022 23:49

I liked the tourist and rules of the game

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 19/01/2022 23:52

I quite enjoyed the The Split (on iPlayer) and Close to Me (All4).

The Serpent was very good - it was on BBC but might be on Netflix now?

If you like foreign thrillers then Spiral is excellent, several series so if you like it you’ve got plenty to watch (iPlayer). Ditto Deutschland 83, 86 and 89 (All4). Just One Look is a good Harlan Coban adaptation (All4).

Ohmygodyesthatsit · 20/01/2022 00:05

I loved manhunt with martin clunes dramatisation of a true crime but absolutely no glamorising of the criminal all about the police and the victims beautifully acted.

nomorefrogs · 20/01/2022 08:27

I'm a bit behind the curve as I'm only just binge watching outlander!

BashfulClam · 20/01/2022 22:56

@nomorefrogs I’m suffering from Droughtlander due to covid…apparently back in March!
