Hit me with your work backpack recommendations

Heading back into the office soon after a LONG time working from home during the pandemic. Work have given me a laptop which I will be carrying with me on the commute sometimes.

I will be on trains, tubes and walking around London so need a decent backpack to ferry it about. Criteria:

  1. Secure - difficult for thieves to get into easily
  2. Comfy/ supportive to wear, esp on the shoulders. I have enough aches and pains already and don't want anymore.
  3. Decent quality. I no longer do fast fashion. Like things that are built to last.
  4. Stylish if possible. I'd like to be able to use it out of work.
  5. Absolutely, positively not black. Am in full-blown, perimenopausal revolt against black clothes and accessories.

Hit me with your recommendations of wise women of Mumsnet!

I have this in teal and it fits a laptop perfectly.

Worth shopping around as you might be able to get it cheaper - I got mine reduced at John Lewis.

Mat & Nat.

That’s the website to give you an idea but John Lewis have something in the sale as do The Little Green bag.

Oooh I some good recommendations here. The Fiorelli one looks very comfy. And the Mat and Nat ones are lovely. A bit more than I was planning on spending but I have a birthday coming up 😁

Another vote for Rains backpacks, they are so neat and slim and look great. I really want one, but I absolutely don't need it so I have resisted.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 19/01/2022 18:25

Look at Sandqvist. I have the Ground Dante rolltop 14” in navy. The back is reinforced and the straps are padded and wide. This one also looks good.

covetingthepreciousthings · 19/01/2022 18:27

Another recommendation for Rains backpacks, I've found them to be a total game changer when it comes to backpacks as they're completely waterproof, and comfortable. Not sure how difficult they'd be when it comes to thieves though..

MiloAndEddie · 19/01/2022 18:28

Roka backpack or surprisingly Levi’s do some good ones with laptop compartments

legalseagull · 19/01/2022 18:32

I got a mat and Nat one for Christmas and it's very smart, not quite big enough though. Fits my laptop, purse, phone and keys but I'd struggle to get a water bottle in. Make sure you check the size

eldorado02 · 19/01/2022 18:37

Love my Sandqvist backpack - super stylish, holds all my stuff and very comfy. Mine is black, but they do other colours!

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 19/01/2022 18:39

Osprey for comfy straps or roka for style. They both do bright colours

BrimfulOfBaba · 19/01/2022 18:39

I have a Kapten & Son one - very comfy, I think they're really stylish in a casual cool sort of way, and I can fit loads in!

sherbertdibdab · 19/01/2022 18:41

I have a lefrik backpack it is comfortable and yellow, so perfect for your black opposition. It is a decent size but not massive which is good as I tend to overfill.

Itsmemaggie · 19/01/2022 18:46

I have a backpack in this brand rokalondon.com/

They do a wide range of colours and style variations.

HastaLaVistaBebe · 19/01/2022 18:53

I have this one and like it www.kipling.com/uk-en/kazuki-ki592378s00-999.html

Thank you all so much for your suggestions. There's some great ideas here and I'd never heard of any of these makes before. Smile

Sandqvist ones are absolutely stunning but a bit out of my price range tbh. But definitely going to investigate some of the other options. The Lefrik ones look very promising.
