I got mine from diykitchens. I'm absolutely delighted with it. You'll have to take my word for about how fabulous it is though, because I won't be posting a photo...Smile

DIY kitchen about four grand cheaper than magnet and I much prefered the choice and transparency. Unless you have done it before it is a learning journey.

NannyGythaOgg · 18/01/2022 17:04

DIY kitchens.
And they have an online planning tool. And most of their cabinets come in 50mm increments so it's easy to get an almost bespoke fitting.

Howdens is a rip off - they won't discuss pricing with you - only with your fitter.
Get their plan and then price it up on the DIY website.
planner.diy-kitchens.com/ You can then swap in and out different storage solutions and easily see the difference between the cost of cupboards or drawers for example and different styles of drawers. Drawers are much better for base units than cupboards as the whole depth is useable and easier to find things.
Boopeedoop · 18/01/2022 23:19

Thank you @NannyGythaOgg

Luckily my ex sister in law works there and we are still friends so confident of not being ripped off.

I'm desperate for drawers and clever storage solutions!

I'm definitely open to quotes from elsewhere and haggling though. I like a bargain!

Watching with interest. I desperately need a new kitchen as the current one is falling apart. I had a local high end designer come to measure abs quote but after talking the talk and wasting my time they decided I wasn't spending enough to be of interest to them and there wasn't enough scope to add building work. I've organised my usual Jack of all trades company to fit now and they use Howden's so there designer is coming soon. I have a pretty strong idea of what I want, it's just working out if it a possible and fits the budget

I went to Magnet but find your kitchen fitter first. Find one who is recommended to you and they may have an account with Magnet which will get a grand discount and they will charge you less to fit it. Guaranteed

Also vouch for diy kitchens. Quality is far superior to that of howdens

My fitter wanted me to use Howden's because he was used to fitting their kitchens.

After fitting mine he said he would be recommending DIY in future as the units are so sturdy and well made. (For around the same price give or take)

Can I ask for the website for DIY kitchens? Do you mean B&Q or is it another company?...

squashyhat · 31/01/2022 09:43

On the diykitchens website it says you can book a showroom visit but doesn't say where the showroom is! Does anyone know? Or have used them without going to the showroom?

@SugarAndSpice1234 Have you thought about painting your cupboards instead? We did this and changed the handles. It cost less than £75 and we always get complinents Smile

It does say where the showroom is! I'll go & get it for you.

It's a fabulous showroom over two floors! Pre covid it was a lovely place to visit, with helpful staff on hand, lots of seating & drinks/snacks. It's about 3 hours from my place & I haven't been back since Feb2020.

The online tour is ok, but nothing compares to actually going!

The showroom is near Pontefract.

10 to 20 mins each from A1, M1 or M62 whichever is your easiest approach. Its on an industrial estate

Pre pandemic they were happy to pick people up from the nearest train station too - I don't know if they have reintroduced that yet.

NannyGythaOgg · 31/01/2022 13:34

There's also an online planner, where you can try out various combinations

planner.diy-kitchens.com/ which is very useful
