Mirena bleeding!

Popsicales · 17/01/2022 17:15

I had a mirena coil fitted on 20th December. Weeks later, I am still bleeding!

I started spotting at the end of December and this has progressively got heavier. Bleeding like a normal period for 12 days now, along with odd fleshy clots Blush TMI sorry.

If you experienced this, when did the bleeding stop?

I expected constant spotting for months until it settles but not actual bleeding.

I’ve not stopped spotting since I had it put in. Unfortunately the wires have gone up inside so I’ve got to have it removed in a clinic.
I wish I’d never had the damn thing put in.

I had different levels of bleeding continuously for 11 months before the Dr agreed to remove it. I know Mnetters have a love/hate relationship with the mirena coil. I'm in the hate camp.

I had it put in for heavy periods which made me anaemic, but at least I knew when I was going to bleed and for how long. I’ve had a pad in my knickers every day since August when it was put in, and I’m fed up of it.
My appointment has just been put back a month too.

I had period like bleeding for ten weeks then nothing at all for five years until it was removed. Then back to normal periods

I had marina put in on 22nd of December and so far have had no bleeding at all 🤞🏻 makes me feel so lucky when I read posts like this, it was my biggest worry. Did u all start bleeding straight away?

Bleeding and period pain, albeit reduced, for 6 weeks, then nothing. Had it for very heavy periods causing anaemia. Hated it for those 6weeks but love it now.

Bleeding for roughly 6-9 months but after first month was just spotting. Then absolutely nothing. When I had it replaced last year I bled for a week and then back to nothing, it was an absolute game changer for me.

Me too, except I persuaded them to remove it earlier than 11 months.

I kept asking, they kept saying to give it more time, until eventually I just sat in the Dr's office refusing to leave until they took it out. They took it out then, and the bleeding stopped.

Never again.

@hereiamagain07 I started bleeding after 10 days!

Ah I really hope I’m in the camp where it eventually stops. I’ll give it 6 months then I’ll get it out and have a copper coil which I’ve previously gotten on well with.

I was even given a two week course of progesterone to flush my womb out, did nothing.
I so wanted it to work for me.
I will say though that my PMT has disappeared since I had it put in.
