What would you do with a Lottery win? (various different amounts)

With £50k, I’d do some work to the house, have a nice family holiday and put some money into savings accounts for the kids, otherwise life would go on as normal (give my parents and in laws some cash too)

I’d probably do the above, plus give up work, if we won £500,000 but DH would still need to work and again I don’t think our lifestyle would change massively except it would all be easier without me working. Also donate to a cause or causes i support too.

£150m on the euro millions - I’d work out which charities/causes i’d want to support and get involved there, give all close family good sized gifts, then we’d go off round the world to stay in five star hotels and have amazing experiences (with tutors for the kids!) Then probably continue to life in the city we live in, but in a dream home and with a number of holiday homes abroad.

I don’t actually play the lottery though! But nice to day dream

£50k - I would have to think about it
£500k - sell up and move, not far but something a bit bigger and better.
Give £100k each to 2 DDs
£3150k - buy new flipflops and research Caribbean and Florida beaches, be generous with immediate family members.
Holiday home for MIL at Bridlington, evidently the world ends there.

50 k pay off debts , have see of enough for deposit to buy small house as we rent
500 k ,pay off debts , nicer house , cars for both ds and a nice family hols and some in savings and few selected charities, small amount to parents and DB
Large euro amount all the above plus give close family money , some charities but also lots local or small gifts / donations to those that need it
I.e someone needing a new treatment not funded or new special wheelchair etc

50k- Definitely a Chanel handbag or two; fly first class when I go on holiday in October plus some lovely hotels there. Plus something shiny

500k- All of the above plus pay off mortgage I suppose; maybe move house

150m- All of the above plus new houses, travel, money for friends/family

TeeBee · 18/01/2022 14:19

£50K put it towards a new house
£150K put it towards a new house
£15m spend it on various new houses across Europe.

50k - we would move to a bigger house, and get it done up straight away. We are planning a move soon so it would just grease the wheels a bit. We would get the dog DS2 longs for.

500k - we would pay off the mortgage, have a holiday and invest the rest, some for the kids and some for retirement. I’d prefer to give up work but suspect neither of us could do so completely - we would probably go down to three days a week each instead.

150m - gifts of cash to my brothers and all our parents. A honeymoon for me and DH as we never had one. Investment in local business. And a little coppice with pigs in it for me. No reason, I just like them.

QuizzicalEyebrows · 18/01/2022 14:35

50k - most would go towards my mortgage

150 mil - well I'd buy loads of properties - ski chalets, holiday cottages, houses for DC. And I would just travel, travel, travel and stay in luxurious properties.

I'd carry on working though in my job which is flexible so I could do it whenever I have free times between travelling

Bloodybridget · 18/01/2022 14:53

I'd be delighted with 50k: new shutters for our two front bay windows; get most of the house painted inside and out and all damp bits fixed (yeah, dream on); maybe persuade DP to chuck out some of her massive brown furniture items and replace them with nicer modern stuff - actually it would probably take the whole 50k to bribe her!

500k: see if DP would agree to a new kitchen, and back garden getting sorted out - actually the whole basement level could be redesigned and made gorgeous, and we could rent somewhere to live nearby while it happened.

I wouldn't even want to win 150 million and have to spend the rest of my life figuring out how to manage it and what to do with it.

  1. New cars( still second hand) , little bit of house maybe new bathroom, windows etc.

Savings for the rest and teeny bit for long haaul holidays

Probably some into pension or isa.

JanuaryBluehoo · 18/01/2022 16:37

500/000 sell and buy new house.
Keep lots back for savings and safety net. Isa, pensions.. New cars (still second hand) two on the cheap long haul to Thailand and USA.both

Oh and a few safari. Both keep working

150 million, well...who knows!
Definitely not work, create jobs, charities. I'd definitely have something emergency Jones for single mums etc

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 18/01/2022 16:44

£50k:
£15k to enjoy my maternity leave and not feel like we’re scrimping
£10k overpayment max limit for the mortgage this year
£25k into savings

£500k: pay off mortgage in full, remaining £90k split between nice holiday and savings (boring I know)
Probably would drop to part time for both DH and myself but would still need to work. Would feel more secure though definitely.

£150m:
Anything we bloody want to Grin

AllKindsOfWrong · 18/01/2022 18:35

The 50 and 500k I'd bank.
The 150 million would have me going off on worldwide adventures.
The kids can have what's left when I die.
