£65 for 30 mins. Is it worth it? I want relaxation!

In winter it's amazing but I didn't think they cost that much. Depends where you are I suppose?

Ohmycron · 16/01/2022 20:14

No. That’s a rip off.

Sea62648 · 16/01/2022 20:17

What's the average price?

I’m in south East & my general pricing guidelines for myself is around £1/ minute, might go to £1.50 per minute for something very special but that sounds very expensive unless in central London

I've only had one hot stone massage many years ago. It was awful. I was in agony for days afterwards. I don't think the therapist had much experience though.

HermioneWeasley · 17/01/2022 14:32

They’re amazing, but that seems pricey unless you’re in central London

HerBigChance · 17/01/2022 14:38

I've paid £55 for an hour in SE England.

I love a HS massage.

longtompot · 17/01/2022 14:42

I had one years ago and a small preschool fundraising evening. It was bliss! It didn't cost much as it was part of the fundraiser. I'd love to have another one.

Shapiro · 17/01/2022 14:49

Is this big something you could do at home?

Get some pebbles off the beach, plunge them in hot water, wait a few minutes and lift out with slotted spoon and get a loved one to place on your back whilst you lay down?

Shapiro · 17/01/2022 14:49

Ignore the word big!

Ohmycron · 17/01/2022 16:55

I was underwhelmed.

The therapist told me that the stone got colder as it was drawing out toxins from my skin. I managed not to laugh

dementedma · 17/01/2022 16:56

£65 for 90 minutes here

Wombat98 · 17/01/2022 16:59

Don't nick stones off beaches. People do this all the time not realising or not caring the shingle beach is the towns flood defences.

Pick a decent professional masseur/se rather than one at a salon that does all sorts. Worth it.

whatsthestory123 · 17/01/2022 17:26

what do the stones actually do
many thanks

Evanesco · 17/01/2022 17:29

That sounds expensive, I think I paid less than that for an hour the time I had one.

I did enjoy it but I refer a normal massage personally.

For the pp, when I had one done the hot stones are placed on your back for a bit and warm your muscles but the therapist also uses the stones in their hands to massage you. So like one big pebble sized stone in each hand that they use to massage you.

Redcrayons · 17/01/2022 17:30

I really enjoyed it, but that’s sounds quite expensive.

ExplodingCarrots · 17/01/2022 17:31

I've worked in spas . Unless it's some very high end spa in London that price is way off. I went to a spa over the weekend and it was £70 for a 60 minute hot stone treatment. This was a spa at a 5 star resort too.

TheVanguardSix · 17/01/2022 17:32

I'm in West London.
It's £100 for 75 minutes.
£65 for 30 minutes is a rip-off and not beneficial.
It's a full-body massage and should not only take 30 minutes.

There is so much more to a hot stone massage than that.
Shapiro · 17/01/2022 17:49

I was making a joke.

musicalfrog · 17/01/2022 19:35

Oh OK. You just sounded a bit clueless tbh!

@whatsthestory123

what do the stones actually do many thanks
They just feel nice.
RestingStitchFace · 17/01/2022 19:51

God I love a HS massage!

Sea62648 · 17/01/2022 21:33

Sounds like it's overpriced then... This also isn't a full body massage - that price is just for back neck and shoulders! Not in London but is in a fairly expensive city
