Daughters boyfriend has asked me to sell some of his things on eBay because I know what I’m doing, have no idea what I’m doing, he just can’t be bothered, but as his stuff is taking up her room, the spare room, and spreading over the stairs, I’m happy to help.

This thing is giving me trouble. It’s a metal folding board, in a plastic case. It’s 45x55cm. There are no other parts to it (ruler etc). It’s quite a substantial thing, so if I knew what to call it, someone might buy it!

Any ideas? He says he can’t remember

He has a sob story, and I was stupid enough to fall for it, as my dad and his siblings were abandoned with a pregnant unrelated woman when his dad moved out. The siblings were older but dad ended up in care. My dads fine, and never refers to it, apart from to say that he was probably hard work, but I just felt awful that the boy had been told to leave his home.

He’s been told to move out by my husband now. The stealthily moving his stuff into older daughters room was the last straw (I’ve got a feeling my husband had plans of his own regarding the space, but it is OUR house.)

I don’t know where he’s going to go, and I’m trying not to let it bother me. Younger daughter doesn’t seem bothered at all, and luckily (in a way) she’s seen a nasty side to him these last few days.

Of course I’ll give him the money, although so far he’s had no bids. He said ‘I thought you knew what you were doing’, which I’ve never said. I’ve never sold on eBay ever. I have an Etsy shop, but it’s not the same.

It's a laptop riser, by the way, but sat the other way way up, so that the laptop sits on the metal part and the plastic element sits on the surface top (the serrated metal part is to allow the laptop to cool effectively).

It's a drawing board stand, missing the clips from the top and possibly T Square/ruler.
