Party bag ideas. For 40 children

I have a party for 40 children for dcs birthday. Mainly aged 3/4 plus some relatives who are 8 to 10. But they would be happy with sweets :)

I got in the sale 30 bubble wands for 10p! Ideal for the younger ones

I don't want all the stuff that's like boubcy balls etc

So thinking do I just get everyone a sweetcone made or maybe like a coloring book and pencils with the bubble wand? And obviously the cake?

Or something like a whistle, mini pens and book, balloon, bouncy ball etc.

Ideally need to keep it at around £ 50 all in as the hire of vanue and food has already exceeded £ 330

Pound shop do small pop it fidget toys. They seem to always go down well! I got a few and they were a hit! Smile

I used to hate receiving party bags.
A piece of cake is more than enough after being kindly invited to your DC birthday cake.
Maybe a pack of seeds would be fun. Something like cress or sunflowers, that are easy to grow.

Buy a mega pack of age-appropriate coloured felt tips and put a couple into each bag.

Party bags are a rubbish.

Paper bag-
Colouring sheet with a nice pic rolled into a tube with nice string
Cake
Packet of haribo or similar.

Keep it simple, and as green as you can make it!

We did the works £10 for ten books and a slice of cake this year (and a wooden train whistle - train themed party, shoot me but most of the kids couldn't make them work anyway!)

Bloody awful things - need scrapping. Kids try and outdo each other and trade them - then there’s all the sticky fingers on them.

Worse invention ever.

Brown recycle sandwich bags with a bubble wand, notebook or similar (love the shower gel idea above) and mini chocolate and piece of cake is fine.

Most people are very aware of the plastic tat and environment.

For 4/5 year olds We did a bag of marbles each, bubble wands and a pack of Haribo. Think it appeals to all ages

BluebellsGreenbells · 15/01/2022 19:38

You’d give 3/4 year olds marbles? Seriously?

GlomOfNit · 15/01/2022 19:51

At that age they'll be happy with anything, frankly! Grin What I mean is, expectations are low. Seeds are nice and I'm sure you can buy packets meant for kids in bulk, perhaps a very small plant pot (but plastic!!) to go with them?

If you set a precedent for bagsful of plastic crap that gets used once, broken and binned, then it'll be harder to backtrack. Plus, as others have pointed out, people are very anti plastic tat now so it really won't be expected. I'd honestly just go with a slice of cake in a napkin and a small handful of sweets. Parents love consumables. Grin

I used to go to The Works and buy 10 books for a fiver. Plus a few sweets.

Yes. They are perfectly capable of knowing not to put them in their mouth. Plus the bags say, not below 36 months. 🤷‍♀️

A slice of snotty, spitty cake and a book sounds great! I’d think most would prefer that to rubbish that gets thrown out within days.

5thnonblonde · 16/01/2022 19:23

I’m doing cake, a temporary tattoo, vegan sweets (allergies) and a deflated balooon. Not plastic free but a bit less horrific and less to bin…

Have a look at Baker Ross www.bakerross.co.uk/pocket-money-toys/party-bag-fillers?p=2

Small packet of Haribo and a balloon with bubble wands. In paper bag. Job done.
