I'm expecting a baby girl soon and just wondering which of these names you prefer? Emilia Rose or Elena Rose? Thanks 😊

Elena much better as it's not so popular sooo many Amelia and Emilia's and with rose as a middle name, if not rose then grace!

Elena. But I’m bored of Rose as a middle name, it’s so over done.

Thatsplentyjack · 15/01/2022 15:21

@EishetChayil

Rose is the Louise/Claire/Marie of today. So common.

Yes yes, I'm sure it was your great Nan's name. But still.

But still what? People shouldn't use it because its a common name. Fwiw my dad's middle name is Rose because it's the first part of her grans name and she won't be around for much longer. Should we not have used that because other people did? Weird!

I prefer Emilia Rose. I think it's a very pretty name. It's popular for a reason! Don't think it sounds dated either as the Emilias I know are varying ages from 3 & 50/60s.

Rose is a lovely name for either first or middle.

eagerlywaitingfor · 15/01/2022 15:31

From day to day, she will not be using her middle name at all.

So which one do you prefer on its own? Because that's the one she'll be known by all her life.

MogsBestestFurball · 15/01/2022 15:31

Emelia or variations on that name are so common now that I would not use that name. But then I can think of lots of variations of Elena in my circle too...there has been a real surge of popularity in girl names starting with Eh sound, not sure why.

I think your daughter will stand out more as a Rose.

Emilia is lovely, not ugly at all. I would say that the pronunciation of Elena is ambiguous.

@UserBot314159

like them both but my daughter is 18 nearly 19 and those names both seem very early 2000s to me

What does that have to do with it?

I know young girls called Nancy, Elsi and Beti. They are older names but i haven’t heard anyone mention a decade..

Makes absolutely no difference at all.

SittingOvation · 15/01/2022 15:35

I prefer Elena.
