What was the name of the show dedicated to love songs (think it was a Sunday night?)

Was Russell Kane really flying over London in his little blue plane???
I never knew whether to believe it or not

Neil “Foxy” Fox, not a real doctor as it turned out.

Cuck00soup · 14/01/2022 22:10

Does anyone remember Tracey from Essex on Chris Tarrant’s breakfast show quiz?

I was thinking about it on the things that make you laugh thread earlier.

For those who missed it, the required answer was Murray Walker, Tracy asked chrissywissy for a clue and he said something along the lines of his first name being “something you suck”. IE a Murray mint.

Lovely Tracy guessed Dickie Davis. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Hobart Tasmania - it's a wonderful town! Yes that was the breakfast show

I think there might have been 2 types of love song show. There was the one where the DH would read out a letter from someone to someone and then play a couple of requested songs.
Then there was another show with just a few hours of love songs and power ballads.

"Hobart is the best, but better yet, Hobart has Radio 7HO!"

How do I remember the whole song word for word decades later?!

Ahh memories. Capital definitely lost its way.

Whenever 'Dr Liam Fox' the MP gets mentioned on the news I always think of Dr Fox from the radio Grin
Same here! 🤣

Didn't the DJ Dr Fox get accused of being a sex offender or something?

I have been looking for the Hobart 7HO jinglefor a long time. However, I have now found it on YouTube by searching for 7HO. My recollection was that it was Chris Tarrant who played it, but Danny Baker may have done so as well. However, whilst you may have been amused by Hobart having such a hick jingle, you can't blame it on the Tassies. Here's an earlier version from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. But it seems this one is the original from Regina, Saskatchewan Canada in 1964 for CKCK-TV Regina. I also found this movie Wonderful Town (1958) Rosalind Russell - Kinescope. I haven't listened to it all but from a quick sampling I don't think the movie gets the blame for creating the song, and even if it did, back in 1958 this would be sophisticated!
