My DS has a small I just. I'm concerned with the red snaking up his arm that red bit around what looks like a splinter entry has grown this last hour since bath time. Doesn't seem to have anything in it. Doctors tomorrow or any tips I could try? Thank you

@MrsPerfect12

We're getting antib's, they're deciding if it needs to be IV or oral and the doc is awaiting discussion with a senior. They're away to do bloods so not sure how DS will be with that. We were seen pretty quick thankfully.
I'm so glad he was seen to quickly! You made the right decision in taking him tonight. I hope he gets better soon x

Glad he was seen quickly.

When it comes to taking blood, if he is a curious sort, engage him in questions about what colour he thinks his blood will be, how quickly it will come out, curiosity and engaging the brain often helps them push through fear.

We're home with the orals. The doc thinks we've caught it in time but I'm on a open ticket so I can just phone direct and go in with any changes over the next 5 days. Going to keep him off school so I can make sure he get the first doses properly and keep a close eye on the tracking.
Thanks for the help and support.

BabycakesMatlala · 14/01/2022 06:26

@MrsPerfect12 well done, phew - was worried when I thought you'd be sitting at home with that! Fingers crossed for a swift recovery x

DoubleEdgedPen · 14/01/2022 07:00

MrsPerfect12 · 14/01/2022 08:25

@ofwarren Dra weren't sure but thought as I did probably a splinter but splinter gone.

@BabycakesMatlala i was needing that little push to call 111 I'm always hesitant with feeling like I'm wasting the NHS resources. I was sure he needed seen just not so sure it needed to be that night IYKWIM.
@DoubleEdgedPen thank you.

Good that you got the antibiotics. Is tour DH taking medical advice from Donald trump?

JackTheHack · 14/01/2022 08:41

Good news all round!
If you could see the people that waste 999 calls you wouldn't hesitate to call them. You did well

EllieSattler · 14/01/2022 08:44

Ooh I'm glad you got him seen, when I saw the photo and you were going to leave it I was concerned, my DD had something like that and ended up in hospital for 2.days on IV antibiotics, she was really quite poorly. Hopefully you've caught it fast enough but draw round the borders with felt tip and watch it like a hawk.
