Robotic vacuum cleaner thoughts?

I’m toying with buying one, hoping it might change how irritated I feel when no one but me notices the floor needs vacuuming!
There are so many, some very pricey, others cheaper... does anyone have one and can recommend that type?
Thank so much!

I've got a eufy. absolutely love it. one of the best things I've ever bought!
This!!! Love my Eufy. I’ve got the 15c max. He’s called Brian.

@Justasecondnow

Anyone have a Roborock s6 pure? I’ve wanted a robot hoover for ages. But can never decide which. Maybe this one is the one....
I have booth the Roborock S5Max and the needy model, the S7.

They are superb machines, much better than the Eufy I had as a first attempt. Their best feature is that they really accurately map the house and you can then label your rooms so you can send it clean one or more specific rooms. They methodically clean the floor using pattern technology to cover all areas so you get a thorough clean.

By contrast the Eufy has no map so you just send it off to trundle aimlessly round. There's no logic to its cleaning pattern because it's cleaning blind without knowing the shape and size of the area it's cleaning.

@LakeShoreD

We have the Roomba with the self emptying bin. Love it. We used to an Eufy (not sure what model) and it was shit. Couldn’t clean the kitchen because it was too sunny and it’s a vampire apparently.
Ha ha mine goes all vampire ish my bed room sometimes as I have a dark purple carpet if on the rare occasions it's sunny while he is running he gets scared and hides under the bed!

Eufy, brilliant! Had a Neato for about four years until he broke, he was good and you got a map of where he’d cleaned but he was noisier. Eufy much quieter and cheaper.

Mayhemmumma · 11/01/2022 14:56

Are they noisy? Could you set it over night without disturbing you?

Whadda · 11/01/2022 15:02

Thanks have a Bagotte. Got it reasonably cheaply from Amazon a few years ago, and love it.

I have all hardwood floors and porcelain tiles downstairs and it does a great job. No bother over floor mats in halls etc. It also has a mop attachment, but I’ve rarely used that.

I like to put him on before I do another job because then I feel twice as productive.

Aquamarine1029 · 11/01/2022 15:06

I absolutely love my eufy, Bertha, and she's been going strong for three years. She is my saving grace, honestly. I will never be without a robovac again.

Chelsea26 · 11/01/2022 15:17

Yes I love Elsie - she comes in at 2am and picks up a surprising amount every day. I hate doing floors so would be quite skanky without her.

Added bonus that she makes us tidy round before bed so she doesn’t get stuck…

I have this one, £1500, it’s useless so don’t buy it. Always getting stuck, always needing help. Waste of money.

Love ours had him years. We have a neato.

canary1 · 13/01/2022 07:08

Thank you so much, mumsnetters! Some great suggestions, when it’s not something I know about at all and didn’t know where to start. I’m going to look at cost and then get one that has been recommended here- thanks so much!

Yup. Ours was about 200-300 and my DH says it is better value than any cleaner we have hired. I have to say I agree...
Justasecondnow · 14/01/2022 17:48

Ooh forgot I posted here - thanks for review of that brand, I’m so close to committing! Can I ask why you called the S7 needy please?

Justasecondnow · 14/01/2022 17:50

Sorry that was to @Elasmotherium - quote didn’t work. Maybe I’m not tech savvy enough for robots! Grin

Chasingsquirrels · 14/01/2022 17:51

@CaptainMyCaptain

Dogs don't like them.
My dog doesn't like the normal vacuum, but us unfazed by the robovac.
SailingBuddy · 14/01/2022 17:53

We have a roomba. It was the best thing we’ve bought for years.
Make sure whatever model you get is slim enough to fit under your sofa. Some of the models are quite tall.

TheVanguardSix · 14/01/2022 17:56

God. I could shag my Eufy, I love it so much.
My ex-husband walked out the door at the end of August.
A week later, Eufy moved in.
Seriously, it has been one of the best things I've ever purchased, OP. It's a game changer.

Chasingsquirrels · 14/01/2022 17:56

@Mayhemmumma

Mine is programmed to clean at 2am. It lives in the lounge and does that, the playroom, the hall & dining room. It doesn't disturb me, but when the bloke I'm seeing is here it can wake him, so we just keep the doors shut so it only does the lounge & playroom.

Because its then fully recharged when I get up I'll set it off in the kitchen & conservatory a few times a week, or upstairs once a week.

Typo on my part I meant to say 'new model'.

The S7 is fab. K have mostly hard floors so the combo of the hoover with the deep mop function is perfect for me.

ouch321 · 14/01/2022 18:18

Got one in 2020 due to hype on here and it's crap. Turns itself on in the middle of the night (not set on a timer) which wakes me up (live in flat and light sleeper) and sometimed spews a trail of dust out of its back end even after I've cleaned it. Selling mine.

Replaced it with a Shark Cordless - fantastic buy!

About the robot cleaners as well I've heard of households with pets and the cat or dog went to the loo on the floor overnight and the robot did the standard early morning vacuuming and smeared it over all their floors and carpets.

Justasecondnow · 14/01/2022 18:35

@Elasmotherium - thanks so much. We have a large ish area of Karndean floor. I’m constantly sweeping & hoovering it & well, to be honest, more thinking Christ it needs a mop then actually mopping it.. hoping this will have it looking a bit better.

Karndean and Amtico is what we have throughout the ground floor. The Roborock is perfect for it.
