Where do I live?

I live c. 30 minute train (or road) journey from the seaside, 30 mins by train to Central London, easy road access to M25 (10 mins).

We have an ancient woodland with miles and miles of walking and cycling trails within walking distance of the doorstep plus a good town center park with large playground and duck pond. Good local amenities, cinema, bowling etc a short drive, good library and GP with walking distance. Network of cycle paths to take you all over town and a good bus service.

Thriving community groups for everything from walking and running through natural history and arts and crafts. Large modern sports centre and clubs for every sport you can think of.

30 mins or so from three large shopping centres. The town centre is not as good as it once was.

We have chain restaurants but are perhaps lacking "good" restaurants within walking distance, but there are lots within 3 miles.

The nearest primary and secondary schools are ranked outstanding and good respectively.

My large 4 bed detached house is worth about £500k.

Eutopia?

I’ll say Rochester or Medway. That sounds similar to how I could describe where I live.

I think almost all the places mentioned are much more expensive?

Yes, it's Basildon. Every now and again I start thinking it's time to move somewhere "nicer" then look at how much less house I'd get for a lot more money and everything I'd lose in terms of what's nearby and wonder why you would.
