Newborn won’t settle in crib at all - please help!

FTM here. My daughter is 5 days old and will not settle down to sleep unless she’s being held. She immediately gets distressed when we transfer her to the bedside crib.
Is this normal? I am completely exhausted by it and recovering from an emergency c-section. Hoping that this is just a phase and it will get easier. Any positive experiences and advice would be gratefully accepted.

Just here to bring some solidarity. This is our third night at home with DD2 and she won’t be put down either. DD1 went in her next2me from the first night, albeit in small stretches, so it’s hit like a tonne of bricks this time - especially with 2yo to look after too 😴 just goes to show they are all different. It is completely normal though. DD1 would only contact nap until 7 months in the daytime and she is now an excellent sleeper. It does get easier. The nights feel long but the weeks really do fly by. Hang in there xx
