Best spa hotel England/Wales?

Hi can I seek your advice on a really good quality spa hotel in England or wales? It's for a significant birthday retreat - looking for non-city as want to walk, preferably in hills or somewhere picturesque.
Spa wise - lots of different spa rooms would be best (went to somewhere that had a tiny sauna and steam, I think they were in changing rooms if I recall so couldn't go in with DH)
Many thanks

@YungDumbThrills

Carden Park between Chester & Wrexham. It's beautiful
Agreed. I live 10 minutes away and use the spa which is gorgeous. They have hot tubs and a champagne bar outside and lovely walks on the doorstep.

The Scarlett in Cornwall

The Newt in Somerset. You have to have very deep pockets but wow.

Another vote for Ragdale Hall, it's absolutely amazing!

Swinton is gorgeous, definitely fits the walking country box. However there aren't that many spa 'rooms' - 2 pools, one (very small) jacuzzi, 2 saunas and a steam room if I remember correctly. It's very nice and there's a few little relaxing areas, but not loads like at Center Parcs or Hoar Cross.

I prefer Swinton I think, because Hoar Cross and Center parcs can feel a bit too big, a bit industrial? They really do get busy!

Carey's Manor hotel & spa in the New Forest. I got a voucher to go there from my DH for Christmas & I've been dreamily looking at the website deciding on my treatments since. It's been a good few years since I've been but it is lovely.

The Gilpin Hotel & Lakehouse

If you have a healthy budget, this place is amazing. Not far from lake Windermere. It is a spa hotel with 2 Michelin star restaurants.

Spa wise Ragdale is fantastic. Somewhere beautiful with lovely walks etc then I’d recommend Low Wood Bay in the lakes. Choose a Winander room to get the best if everything

Seaham hall near Sunderland is pretty good.

BiniorellaSun · 05/01/2022 16:53

Swinton has a large indoor swimming pool, 2 steam rooms, 2 saunas, an outside plunge pool, outdoor hot tub, big indoor spa/ jets pool.
I loved it! Love aqua Sana too but Swinton feels very special, especially as the hotel, restaurants and grounds are so lovely.

custardbear · 05/01/2022 19:59

Thanks for all the responses! I live near ragdale , never been but go to Eden hall, Hoar Cross and Aqua Sana lots!
We were
Going to go to the Ice Hotel but worried about covid, however don't want to spend that much as will do the ice
Hotel in the future - so don't want to completely blow the budget

Any ideas where to get some discount vouchers for the super expensive places - or is that just not what they do 😋

Low Wood Bay is currently on Travelzoo

Another one for The Scarlet in Mawgan Porth. Eco, adults-only. Have attached most recent Tripadvisor reviews as don't want to link because I don't want to log out of it just yet.

@SylviaTrench

Lodore Falls near Keswick in the Lake District looks nice. I've driven past it several times and you can see the steam rising from the outdoor pool, your view would be Derwentwater, and the Skiddaw fell range in the distance. I'm determined to stay there one day Smile
I spent a few nights there for a wedding, and in all honesty it wasn't overly fancy. Let's say it looked its age. Nothing really awful, but also not particularly special.
Masdintle · 06/01/2022 14:59

Armathwaite Hall spa in the Lake District north of Keswick is nice

potoforchids · 06/01/2022 15:26

Grantley Hall in North Yorkshire.

VenusClapTrap · 06/01/2022 15:34

South Lodge in Sussex. Natural swimming pond to die for.

ontana · 06/01/2022 19:40

I have been to

Low wood bay
Seaham hall
Lodore falls
Armatwaite hall
The scarlet
Rockcliffe hall

Of these the nicest spa was probably Lodore- the hotel is old but the spa but is new and gorgeous
