My cat is missing and I'm devastated

Just that really. He went missing just before Christmas. He's been done, microchipped but no one has seen him for 7 days. We moved house 6 week's before and it was his first time out.
Everyone keeps telling me he will have gone back to the old house but we are in the middle of a town now and there's a train line and River in the way. Plus he sprayed our garden before he went over the fence.
Why am I do grief stricken. I keep randomly crying and I feel so guilty. I wish I knew what had happened to him.
I've done all the posters/litter tray/dirty washing outside. He was such a lovely cat. Timid of everyone but followed me round like he was my shadow. No one gets it

One of our cars went missing for 6 1/2 weeks and turned up early one morning. He was thin and the vet said the wear and tear of his paws suggested he’d walked a long way back home but within a few weeks he was fine

I think I'm extra worried that no one has seen him. All I've had is stupid teenagers ringing me up from the posters pretending that they killed him

I'm sorry MRSMARMITE I've had that too! They told me they ran him him over & buried him!

I told them they were sick & to fuck off! And then I cried! It's so upsetting!

I think they shut down when they first go missing & just hide - he may start moving again in a few days & hopefully someone one will spot him.

It's so upsetting I've cried so much! I cried when I took the Christmas tree down today, when i put it up I was so sure he would be back by the time it came down!

@MRSMARMITE3 and @leotardrock I am so sorry you are both getting nasty hoax phone calls, it's so thoughtless and mean. Fingers crossed that both of your cats return home.

That's so awful re the hoax calls. Can't fathom how cruel that is.

Don't give up hope!
One of our cats returned after 9 months. He went missing in June 2020. We put up signs around our village and leafleted houses, but nothing.
In March 2021 I saw a 'Is this your cat?' post on our village FB group with a picture of him. He had suddenly turned up near this lady's house and was hanging around. Someone had obviously been feeding him, as he was fine. Still don't know what happened to him!

Sorry to hear about your cat. One thing I read a while ago is that some people seem to swear by talking to other cats. I know it sounds ridic but apparently if you see one around that lives nearby you can politely ask it to go find your cat and ask it to come home. Swear some people said it works apparently. There may be something in that. My user name is in honour of a communal cat, Sammy. He lived round the corner but visited several of us in our street. He would rock up to your door and till you came and let him in. He was very affectionate. We all loved him and one of my neighbours came and told me he was dead. I was upset at losing my visitor. Then the doorbell rang. Neighbours used to ring it when Sammy was at the door. I went to answer it and there were two beautiful cats on the first step up. As soon as I opened the door,, they stepped up and circled me, bumping their heads on my legs and staring silently at me. It was as if they knew about Sammy and my upset. Don't know who they were or where they came from but they were a comfort.

We started doing this & then last Friday we had 2 strange cats in the garden! I was sort of hoping they had come to get a sniff of him before starting their search! Unfortunately no developments so far!
I even did quite a serious prayer to St Anthony this morning in desperation! ☹️

Oh leotardrock I'm literally crying now thinking about my dear cat. I took the tree down but his presents are still there wrapped up. There's been no sightings of him at all and an animal charity said if there's none he's either trapped or someone has him. He's so timid I can't imagine he would go with someone and if he's trapped he's definitely dead as it's been two weeks. 😭

Someone saw my cat & was stroking him etc & shared it online, one of their friends saw our poster & knocked on the door so we had a location for him at one point! The video haunts me tbh I watched it once to make sure it was him but he was purring away but his little paws were all dirty! 🙁 it's burnt in to my brain!

We borrowed a trap from Cats Protection, I was so convinced we were going to get him but we haven't!

We're still getting calls etc but none of them have been him! It's been 7 weeks, realistically I think he's dead. 💔

Oh god leotardrock. I mean people have had cats come back even 9 years later but it's heartbreaking hard to imagine. Because we moved I think if he came back to the old house in a years time how would we know. My posters keep going missing as well which frustrates me. He sprayed our garden before he left so surely he meant to come back. If he's been run over I wish I knew!! I hope your kitty comes back. It's so awful.

A story just yesterday on my local community page, someone put up a post saying they found a cat, took him to the vets and today he's back home with his family! 3 years he's been missing!❤️

It gives you hope!
