So many threads getting pulled recently

Jobseeker19 · 28/12/2021 23:17

Maybe 5 that I have posted on this past few days.
What's going on?

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 29/12/2021 02:04

It's got steadily worse over the last couple of years.

Trolls are one thing (forums will always have those and name changing makes trolling much easier), but the amount of threads pulled just because the OP doesn't like the answers - AKA "Is worried about being identified in real life" or "Taken down to look behind the scenes", has hit peak ridiculousness.

It's disappointing and frustrating as MNHQ were never like this in the past.

LFTsecret · 29/12/2021 09:57

Or threads being seen as 'goady' when in fact they are often a good starting point for robust discussion. Sometimes I feel like we are 5 year olds who get their toys taken away because we can't 'play nicely'

Grandmotherschina · 29/12/2021 11:01

The whole point about MN is that we don’t have to “play nicely”! We’re not nethuns!

Agree name calling/abuse should be monitored but don’t agree at all with all of the butthurt deletions

Proudcarer6829 · 29/12/2021 11:04

One that I commented on said it was deleted as it was picked up by the media!

I've seen so many threads recently that have been put on news sights. How many journalists are lurking on here. Makes you not want to post anything anymore!

Samcro · 29/12/2021 11:19

@givethatbabyaname

And of course, every single Meghan Markle thread gets deleted 🙄. Absolutely impossible to say anything remotely unflattering about her.
rubish.
Kite22 · 03/01/2022 12:01

and another gone overnight. So that's 2 in my 'Threads I'm on' from the last few days.
No message. No explanation.
Just the OP not getting the answers she wanted, so the thread goes poof with no word as to why

Kite22 · 04/01/2022 18:42

oh, and yet another one gone 'poof' since yesterday.

Would it be difficult to put a reason / explanation as does happen occasionally (or certainly used to) ?

Cherryblossoms85 · 04/01/2022 18:46

It must be hard for them though. I got suspended for writing something totally idiotic when I must have been drunk, and it was fair enough. The weird thing about it all is they don't tell you that's what's happened and you just spend a few months thinking your login doesn't work! I did apologise unreservedly as it didn't even seem like something I'd write (or think).

AlternativePerspective · 04/01/2022 18:54

I'm seeing a lot of were taking this down to look behind the scenes. The poof, no explanation. equals “we’re fairly sure it’s a troll but can’t really prove one way or another.

Where are these deleted posts with no deletion messages though. There’s always a deletion message on the threads I’ve seen which were deleted.

TBH it’s a mix. Some threads go quickly, and then there are some which you wonder why they haven’t gone yet, like the broken hearted one from last night. It must have had more reports than a day working at the daily mail, and yet it stuck out for over 600 posts. And when I reported it HQ just said that they were keeping an eye on it.

Kite22 · 04/01/2022 18:55

Where are these deleted posts with no deletion messages though

RussiasGreatestLoveMachine · 04/01/2022 18:56

Absolutely agree that there’s an increasing number of threads being pulled because the OP just doesn’t like the response they’re getting.

liveforsummer · 04/01/2022 19:16

The worst of it is they hang around clogging up active posts for ages, sometimes more than 24 hours after deletion

liveforsummer · 04/01/2022 19:19

@Kite22

Some of them just vanish completely. You go to get an update and it's just disappeared from existence. Not even a title
